Big Apple Restaurant — Restaurant in Marlborough

Decided to treat my kids last weekend to somewhere a little different than our usual spot. There weekend check in was a little different than we are used to, you write your name on a check in list and the amount of people you have. It was a slower turn around time than we are used to at most restaurants to be seated. Once seated no one came to check on us or ask us our drinks for several minutes. We waited regardless as my kids were hungry and we didn't have time to go to another restaurant at that point. We put our menus to the side once we figured out our order and waited a couple more minutes. Finally a waitress came to our table and apologized that no one had taken our drinks order, she took our drink and food orders. For three of us to be seated and order and eat breakfast at a small dinner-esq type breakfast establishment a little over an hour seemed a little much and the food wasn't any blow you away type of meals. We will not be rushing back to eat there again anytime soon.

On a plus my daughter did like the home...

I had breakfast there, and was hoping it would be fantastic since it's close to work.. The service was outstanding, everyone I ran into that morning was helpful, kind, and did a great job. I never wanted for anything. I was in a hurry and the kitchen and the staff got me out the door right on time. Then there's the food.. it was, ok. Just kind of blah. No real pizzaz, or strong flavor. The omelette was well prepared and the home fries were exactly the way I asked for them.. They were just, bland, I didn't taste any seasoning at all.. But, I'm hoping it was just my selection and I'll likely try them again since everything else was awesome. Great neighborhood, mom and pop kind of place with a homey feel. The food is so good here, but the service is so bad. I go here A LOT (for the past 2 years almost weekly) and have decided that I will not return. I tried to ignore the cold treatment from a waitresses but I then asked myself 'why am I supporting a place that I dont feel comfortable going to'? I'm so sorry because the food is always great! I always tip well and regret it as I'm walking out the door. I'll be taking my business to another local place that will appreciate my business. My apologies to the owner, I don't see you often but you are very sweet when I do see you. Btw, I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, I see how cold and annoyed this waitress is with...
