Having recently moved to this area and making new friends in our senior living facility. My wife and I were invited to dinner at the Stephan Anthony's restaurant in Marlboro. Having heard positive comments from other residents in our facility about this restaurant. We gladly accepted the invitation.
Upon our reservation arrival time. Our party of eight was promptly seated in their roomy/ comfortable dining area. Our waitress was cheerful and pleasant. And understood that we all would need sufficient time to look over the menu and select among their offerings.
However, the difficult decision we each faced. Was making the final choice of what meal we really wanted. Pouring over each descriptive meal in itself was a mental challenge. Every meal was more appealing than the previous one. My wife and I had several choices that we were focused on. But there could only be one meal that could be the winning dinner for this dinner.
My choice was the "Sausage Alexandra". Chicken tenderloins with Anthony's House made Italian sausage, sautéed roasted peppers, and mushrooms, deglazed with Pinot Grigio and garlic. Tossed with bow tie pasta. A large house garden salad was also selected. My wife's selection was the Roast Turkey dinner. Hand roasted and carved turkey breast, atop homemade sausage stuffing. Served with pan gravy, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetable medley.
Servings were hearty. Food presentation was very nice. Food quality along with taste was very good. Price was very reasonable for what you received. Everyone in our party were very satisfied with their meal choices. And the service of the wait staff.
If you are in or travelling in the area. Please consider visiting this establishment for a delightful and filling meal. My wife and I look forward to trying many more (if not all) of your menu choices.
Meaningful words to the Stephan Anthony's Chef who prepared our meals. Thank you so very much, for the culinary skills, knowledge that you have attained in your career. And for the love and talent you put in every dish.
Eight very pleased and content...
Read moreWe went for Brunch this weekend and it was an overall terrible experience. We called earlier in the week to check if they took reservations and we were told we could either make a reservation or call ahead and have your name added to the list. We called the morning of to make a reservation and we’re rudely told “uhh we do not take reservations. You can try and call when you’re on your way...”. Ok, noted. We arrived early before the rest of our party, just to add our name to the list. A member of our party showed up and asked if the table was ready and Anthony (I believe him to be one of the owners) asked if it was a reservation, or a name on the list (What??!). We had to wait 45+ minutes for our table which, ok understandable during a busy Sunday brunch schedule.
The waitress seemed less than thrilled to be there, and also seemed like she may be new. We never got our utensil settings when our coffee arrived, so nothing to stir with. Anthony noticed and brought over the settings. We ordered, and 15 minutes later our waitress came over to inform us that the kitchen was backed up and it would be a little bit but she assured us that the order was in. An hour later, our food arrives. Most cold. Most wrong. We sent back two plates, and didn’t ask for them to be re-made (we had an infant with us and were already for too long and he was getting antsy).
The waitress said “let me know if you want me to send the owner over to talk with you” ... which, was odd. I feel the owner should have apologized to all tables affected, should he wish to turn a very, very, negative experience into a better one. We would have been much more understanding if he came over and said something along the lines of what was happening behind the curtains and apologized.
Also, in the midst of all the chaos and delay, they continued to take new customers instead of giving the staff and kitchen time to catch up.
Unfortunately, this was our last time trying to love Stephen Anthony’s, and we will...
Read moreI remember going here over a decade ago with my family and it was always such a great experience with wonderful food. I'm not quite sure what has happened since then, but the food and service has taken a complete 180. I thought it would be nice to go eat a late lunch here with my mother and kids. We were shown over to a booth shortly after we arrived. It took about half an hour plus after that for anyone to come to our table to even offer us water and it wasn't even that busy. The waitress seemed disinterested and scattered. A lot of the menu items sounded delicious, so I was willing to wait a bit for what I thought was going to be excellent food. I was sadly mistaken. About 45 minutes after we ordered our food it finally came. I ordered the vegetable panini, and it was nothing like what was described on the menu. It was basically a sad sandwich with some melted cheese, a ton of spinach, and a tiny bit of what I believe was either roasted pepper or tomato on two slabs of toast. It was edible, but not exactly enjoyable. My mother ordered the vegetable omlette, which she said was good, lots of vegetables, but the toast she had on the side was burnt beyond being edible. My youngest got pancakes with fruit, but when they brought his meal out to my shock they had put BACON on them, when it wasn't even in the description that this menu item came with bacon. My children and I do not eat pork, so this was NOT a nice surprise. Fortunately the young man who brought it out made it right, and also added the missing whipped cream to his pancakes. I also had to remind him that my daughter's meal came with a side of apple slices. The nail on the coffin was when the initial waitress came back to hand us our check while we were STILL EATING. She also tried to take my plate from me while I was finishing up. I don't know what happened to this place because it used to be really nice, but I will NOT be...
