We hosted our rehearsal dinner at Schuler’s Pub for our February wedding, and we truly could not have imagined a better place to kick off our wedding weekend. From the first interaction to the final toast, everything about our experience was exceptional.
Elizabeth was an absolute joy to work with. She was incredibly responsive via email—always prompt, clear, and thorough in answering our many questions. On top of that, she met with us multiple times in person to walk through everything, which gave us so much peace of mind. She took the time to understand our vision for the evening and was so flexible and accommodating throughout the entire planning process.
One of the things that impressed us most was how Schuler’s handled our décor. We brought in our own decorations, and not only were they completely open to it—they offered to and did set everything up for us on the day of the event. It was such a relief to know that we could focus on enjoying time with our family and friends without worrying about those last-minute details.
Elizabeth also went over the full layout with us ahead of time so we knew exactly what to expect, and everything was executed exactly as discussed. The private space in the back of the pub was perfect—spacious yet cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The highlight was the beautiful fireplace, which created the perfect winter ambiance for our February celebration.
The food was, as always, fabulous. We’ve eaten at Schuler’s before and knew the quality was great, but they somehow outdid themselves for the rehearsal dinner. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests are still talking about how good the meal was!
Another standout was how accommodating they were with allergies and dietary restrictions. We had guests with specific food needs, and the staff was so understanding and flexible, making sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of. It’s not always easy to find that level of attention to detail, and we were very grateful.
A huge bonus: Schuler’s has hotel rooms right upstairs, which made things even easier for our out-of-town guests.
Overall, we cannot recommend Schuler’s highly enough for a rehearsal dinner—or any private event. The service, food, atmosphere, and organization were top-notch, and Elizabeth made us feel completely taken care of every step of the way. It was the perfect beginning to our wedding weekend, and we’ll always be grateful to the Schuler’s team for helping make...
Read moreI’ve gone to Schulers since I was a kid. I’m 55 now (for timeline reference). Today is Mother’s Day, 2024. My mother is in a local nursing home for physical therapy and rehab, so I wanted to take her a good, warm meal. I called ahead from BC only to find out they were closing at 5:30 pm (Google shows much different). This means my call got my order in just in time for pick up. Well. I specifically asked if they had any specials for Mother’s Day. After hearing the specials, one sounded like a great appetizer, but was actually an entree (“crab stuffed shrimp”), so I ordered two as I am having dinner with my mother on Mother’s Day (as I stated before and want to make a point). Because they were actually an entree, they came with mashed potatoes, asparagus and side salads. Finally, the other “special “ was prime rib with potatoes, roasted vegetables including onion, bell peppers, green beans. Well, I arrive at the restaurant and find a sticker shock of $200! Yeah, that’s before tip, and I tip very well. I shopped around for a growler of a tasty IPA and grab a growler where I added an all inclusive tip of at least 25%. I drive a couple miles to go to see my mother. I opened each box. Let me say this before I continue….. I am a gourmet cook and my mother has enjoyed my creations with great jubilee for many years. So, the crab stuffed shrimp, mashed potatoes and asparagus were pretty good. The “prime rib” box I chose had different vegetables than the other. Yeah, they were good, but why didn’t both boxes have equal vegetables? Interesting in itself, but wait……. In my many travels, many quality restaurants, and cooking myself, we are accustomed to a prime rib that can be cut with a fork. Not only did I break the plastic fork and knife they gave me, I also struggled with an actual plate, knife and fork the aid at the nursing home gave us. I sat disgusted watching my mother struggling to cut her meat and I had to step in to cut it for her. We both struggled to chew and hard swallowed. Look at the photo and it speaks much more than my words. Schuler’s in Marshall, MI is the biggest joke ever and Miss Damron SHOULD be ashamed of herself. Did I mention I paid (in total over $275?…. Look at the photo). Schuler would turn over in...
Read moreBeautiful place, very nice atmosphere. The place can hold a large capacity if needed. The staff is polite and friendly. We made reservations and went for lunch, The lunchtime menu is quite limited but does have excellent and very delicious food on it. It can be a bit pricey I think our meal came to $72 with the tip... Plus we spent $7 more when we left buying four cookies. But the reason I only gave them three stars has to do with the fact that the restaurants are operating at 25% capacity and due to covid. And I understand that but what I don't understand is that we had reservations to be by the fireplace and we were the first diners in that area so we got our choice of where we wanted to sit but the other eight people that came in were seated at tables right next to us and right behind us and right beside us... So that makes no sense to me as a customer, when an entire dining section was empty with many many empty tables and yet they chose to clump everybody together in one small area and even though we were 6 ft apart from each other why couldn't we have been 12 ft apart or 18 ft apart when they had plenty of empty room that had nothing but empty tables in there?.. So to make matters a tiny bit worse was the fact that at the table directly behind me the gentleman was talking and enjoying his meal and had a bit of a coughing incident and of course he did not have a mask on nor did we because all of us had been eating. Now both of us (my self and friend) have had both of the vaccines So I'm I'm not too alarmed just dismayed because the whole situation could have been handled differently by seating us all further away from each other ... We always save going to schuler's as kind of a special treat because we do like it there and this was our first trip out to a restaurant in close to a year now..... So schuler's lost a couple of stars not because of their food, or service... But for seating us all in my opinion far too closely together when the entire dining room was empty. And just a tidbit... The cracker and cheese that was always a courtesy, is no longer given out unless you ask for it and then they charge you four...
