Haddad's has been a Marshfield staple for a long, long time. A little over half a decade ago they built the current building which expanded their seating by a ton, and added parking. Parking on really busy nights can be a little but of a pain, but its usually not terrible. The atmosphere is fairly plain but it's bright with high ceilings and clean.
The service is never unfriendly, but sometimes there is confusion. Today it took us much longer than expected to be seated, we were told 10 minutes but it was more like 20-25. But I understand it's just an estimate. Our server was very nice, but she seemed overwhelmed. It's not that she didn't check in often our of laziness, it was more that she had a lot of very demanding customers and I think this put her under some stress and maybe she was new. We got everything we ordered, but she had to come back to check what he had ordered and she forgot to ask what one of us wanted for sides. It took about an hour from the time we sat down after waiting for the table to order and receive our food. But I don't blame the server for this.
The have a large menu with a lot on it to satisfy those who don't eat seafood, and a pretty solid beer and cocktail selection with a bunch of local and Maine beers on tap (Mainer's make good beer). But how's the food? It's a-ok. What do I mean by that? Well it sort of depends on what you get, that is to say, the fried scallops were excellent, the clams were just okay. The clams don't hold a candle to North Shore clams unfortunately, perhaps I'm spoiled. They were really, really big, and the coating was sort of bland and not the style I prefer. The fries and vegetable sides were basic but tasty enough. So all in all it was a totally acceptable dinner. Their service has typically not been quite so slow in the past so if you're in the area and looking for a place to go especially with kids or a group...

We go in and specifically ask to sit where we can hear the singer for the night. (The only reason we went.) The hostess sits us downstairs next to the bar. When the waitress comes over after we had waited 15 minutes, we ask where the singer is, she directs us upstairs. No big deal, just a misunderstanding. After waiting for a hostess that was busy elsewhere a waitress sat us outside. We waited for 20 minutes before we finally got our waitress. She brings waters and takes a drink order. Comes back and the lime in my corona and my fiancés drink were both yellow. Fine, they seem busy. They bring out the appetizer (fried calamari) and start to pick. She realized we don’t have plates and brought over two that were definitely used or not washed. No big deal, we will just pick off the plate. Entrees come out and my first fork into my entree there was a big bug right in the food and fork. Keep in mind this plate hadn’t been on the table for more than 30 seconds. As im waiting to get the attention of someone we notice the appetizer had bugs in it as well. At this point I’m aggravated, get the check and leave. But even after pointing this out there really wasn’t much alarm. I really don’t know how people aren’t getting sick here because clearly,...
