Coffee Shack — Restaurant in Marshfield

Honestly, I felt so disrespected when visiting today. I had gone the day before and had a great experience; however today I’m disappointed. There’s a sign stating only 4 people allowed in the restaurant; I was with 2 other girls and there were 2 customers at the register already. I opened the door and stood in the doorway until we could all enter. I was greeted by a brash woman in her mid 50s with a back the blue mask on: “hun either in or out.” I explained that was just waiting until we could all enter but she stated the AC was being let out and flies could entered. I understood and stepped in; that should have been the end of the conversation. While waiting for my turn to order she decided to come back around and loudly say “I wouldn’t stand with the front door open in your house” right in front of 2 other customers. I’m not sure why this was necessary and made me feel uncomfortable to even do business. Once my friends entered I let them know what happened and how disrespected I felt. A very nice younger blonde employee had overheard and apologized for the other woman’s comment; I was grateful. I helped a friend go and get a kitchen table set his sister bought online from someone who lived a couple of streets away, and we decided to stop and get some coffee for the ride back. We each ordered coffee and a donut and were very impressed with the service and the quality of the food. A pretty, young woman with a happy and positive attitude smiled and greeted us enthusiastically when we came in, and provided the most upbeat and professional service I've received from a coffee house in years. I asked if she could add some ice to my coffee order because I can't drink boiling water, which she supplied without question, with a pleasant "of course!" instead of the frown, grunt or sigh I usually get at other places, or worse, an actual charge added for a few ice cubes. They have very good coffee, and the Bavarian cream donut I ordered was both delicious and at least one and a half times the size of the donuts at DD or HD. I noticed that the muffins and pastries were also significantly larger than the chain donut shops, and yet the prices were more reasonable! The employees make it seem as though they were being bothered by us being in there. The jelly stick had about a half dollar sized amount of jelly in it. The frosted cake donut was dry and crumbled apart. Both donuts left a greasy taste in your mouth. And the coffee wasn’t hot and left a weird taste in your mouth as well…I would assimilate it to the same feeling you get after eating spinach. The people have always been on the rude side, but the do it’s used to be good and fresh all the time, now they have neither going for them.
