First and last time I’ll be eating here. For starters we tried calling and making a reservation so we would be sure to have a table and we were told that they don’t take reservations. We were like okay, doesn’t really matter. However when we walked in and we went to sit down at a table we were stopped and were told that the table is reserved. We just shrugged it off thinking whatever. There was also a huge group that ended up sitting on the reserved table and the whole entire time they were very loud and we couldn’t even hear a loud waitress when she was taking our orders. We also seen our waitress a total of about 5 times throughout the whole night.. we were there from 6:15-7:45. We had empty drinks pretty much the whole entire night. After our waitress took our order she vanished and we didn’t see her for over half an hour, we all had empty drinks and simply wanted refills because our food took so long for no reason. All of our food was relatively simple that shouldn’t take more than a couple minutes to make. We got tired of waiting so long that i stopped a different waitress and asked if our food was being made yet, because if not, we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. After I stopped a different waitress for a the second time our food was finally brought out. The food had no flavor and it was all lukewarm at best, it seemed like our food was ready for a long time, but our waitress was no where to be found so it just sat there. I ordered a wrap and I was surprised that the chicken wasn’t warm, so I stopped another different waitress yet again, because ours was no where to be found, and asked if it was normally warm. She did inform that it isn’t warmed and it just sits out(never been to a place where they did that, chicken was always freshly cooked). I then also mentioned that all of our fries were also cold and she asked if us if she should get our waitress and I told her we barely seen her this whole night. When she heard that her jaw literally dropped and was like, “that is very unacceptable, the owner is here so I’ll go talk to him and get your food discounted.”

I am very happy that our food was discounted, but none of us were happy with our food, it all tasted bland and was lukewarm at best. The only person who finished their food was the guy that order the grill cheese, but seriously let’s be honest here… if your cooks can’t make a simple grill cheese right, they shouldn’t be cooking in the first place.

Highlights: Food bad, waitress disappeared, terrible service, big loud group...

A friend of mine and I went here for the first time in a few years, after thinking the food wasn’t stellar the first time we went. Our hopes were high that the food would be different and I’m sad to report that’s just not the case. We came on a weeknight and there were only 3 occupied tables and 3 people at the bar - it was about 6:30pm. Let me start by saying the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff all seemed very friendly which is great. My review, however, is just about the food. The pretzel appetizer had good flavor, but was hard as a rock. The brussels sprouts were very over cooked as well to the point of being mushy. We both ordered a specialty old fashioned, and the tiny glass it comes in was only 2/3 of the way full. You’re paying $7 or $8 for 4 sips. The fish tacos were good but not great, the honey sriracha chicken sandwich was delicious. The fries that came with both, however, were so undercooked that they fell apart. We upgraded to the garlic parm fries, and while they again had good flavor, instead of being over cooked they seemed to have barely hit the fryer. Overall I’d say if this place can get it together with the food, they would be more successful. There are a lot of restaurants in marshfield with similar menus, and by the food alone this place...

Update to review: Returned for dinner with group of 20 on 08.30.23. Totally different experience from lunch service. Server was exceptional, drinks and food were great. Both food and drinks were served in timely fashion. Everyone was very happy with appetizers and meals. Went today (08.25.23) for lunch. Took over an hour to receive our food. This is not a great place to go for your lunch break. When we finally received our food, one order had the wrong sides another order was missing fries. Was told that they'd be right out... after they were finished with their meal waitress brought fries out and her only comment was the sandwich must have been good because they couldn't wait. I ordered a burger and asked for medium doneness, was told they are pre-cooked...?????? It was not crowded but the atmosphere is not conducive to conversation as it is so loud, need to do something with the acoustics. Not the first time we've had a long wait for our food here. Unfortunately Marshfield does not have many options for dining. Lastly, please bring back the fish tacos on the lunch menu. You serve fish fries, why take off...

The Oven Above the Pub is a truly unique experience in Marshfield. When you walk in you're greeted by the massive brick oven and a fantastic smell of what's baking inside. The menu is full of both some low-risk basic pizzas if you're not to adventurous all the way to some unique pizzas like The Popper which is essentially a jalapeno popper appetizer transformed into a pizza which is very delicious (and very hot!). The menu includes plenty of other oven-friendly items including pot pie and lots of other baked dishes. Pair it all with your favorite beer from Blue Heron Brew Pub (downstairs) and you have a winner. At night there seems to be a more formal atmosphere, but it is both kid and adult friendly.

Miserable experience. Took my parents there for a dinner. We were put in the back corner at a table that was moved and clearly blocking an exit. We had to move multiple times to let people in and out of the establishment. The table was not set, we had to ask the table next to us for napkins. The waitress failed to bring us our second round of drinks, we had finished our first before the food even arrived. The food was additionally subpar.

Wednesday afternoon for lunch. The service was pretty bad. A couple tables came in after us we're waited on and got their food before our order was taken. Had to ask three different servers for our bill. One of the drinks that was ordered never showed up. However the food was very good. It may just have been us the other tables seem to have good service overall I would recommend this restaurant if you don't mind waiting a bit.
