Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Martinsville

This review is strictly targeted to the manager Toney. I have been going to this chilis for years and never have had a complaint, service has always been good, food has always been good, and management has always been good up until today. I ordered the crispy chicken tenders and ate half of one before deciding that they weren’t cooked to my liking. My order came with fries and mac and I only ate the fries the Mac and cheese just wasn’t cutting it for me. I kindly asked our server Lindsey if I could take it off the bill since I didn’t eat majority of the meal. Lindsey was super nice and understanding and said of course I will send my manager over to fix this. Everything was fine until Toney came. He was SO rude. He came up to the table and crossed his arms, our table was already sensing the negative energy we were going to be receiving from him, and said “ what’s wrong”? I told him that my chicken was rubbery, to which he replied with “ well no one else has complained all night and they are cooked the same as everybody else’s”. This rubbed me very wrong. After dinner I asked if I could speak to him again because I was confused as to if maybe he personally loses money when he has to take things of the check. When I saw Toney for the second time I asked him if he personally loses money if things get taken off the bill. He said no. I asked him why he had such an attitude then, to which he replied I’m sorry that you feel like I have an attitude but I don’t have an attitude. Then proceeded to walk off. My mother in law was standing right next to me and piped up and said “ yes you were, we were here yesterday and you were rude to us yesterday about us asking for a new drink because he was something floating in it and today you were rude to us again.” Toney responded with “ this conversation is going no where because I can’t please you guys”. We are not the only ones that have had a bad experience with Toney. The waiter even said that he is very grumpy all the time and has horrible customer service. She asked us to leave a paper review on a card for her to turn in to the other general manager. We will be coming back, we love the waiters and the other managers and the food. But...

Went with my mother (because we had a gift card) for lunch. For it being lunch time it wasn't very busy. The lady at the desk started taking us to our seat until her phone started going off. She stopped, turned around, and looked at who was calling. After looking she said something along the lines of, it's always spam callers these days, as she set it back down. Our drink orders (5.98 for two coke zeros) were taken almost right off the bat, but it took longer to get our orders taken. In her defense, it seemed she was one of the only servers. We ordered the Southwestern Egg Rolls (9.89) for an appetizer. They were okay, and unfortunately, the best thing we had during our visit. Mother had a lunch special (9.00) it was potato soup, a half order of a chicken bacon ranch quesadilla, and endless chips and salsa. Her words, "Soup was okay, salsa was Walmart quality, chips were either unsalted or over salted." The endless part didn't get tested because the meal was maybe eaten halfway. I ordered the Brisket Quesadilla, no BBQ (12.39). It looked good. However, it was very salty and I only ate three sections before the salt became too much. Because the salt was so bad, I wanted something sweet and I was still hungry. Because of this, we ordered a Skillet Cookie (7.89), even though we should have known better. It tasted old and the cookie to ice cream ratio is off. As we were leaving, we noticed just how gross the tables and floors were. You could see shoe prints, grease, clumps of dust balls, food particles, and old mop strokes on the floors. Five minutes after leaving, both of us suffered from diarrhea and nausea. This whole experience cost us $48.76 (minus gift card) and though we asked for a to-go container (for the dog) it went in the trash due to how our bodies reacted. We have been here lots of times and have always had a nice time, especially when Hannah the bartender is there. Tonight was a terrible night. When we got there to the bar two guys were already there and drunk. As we sat there the guys kept saying the “F” word I don’t know how many times along with other cuss words. We quickly found out that the one guy was the Managers brother. She even looked at me from across the bar and said I’m sorry. She also proceeded to take his keys away from him but still kept serving him. I have no problem with people enjoying themselves but you should not let your family or friends come to your establishment that you are managing and allow them to get drunk and disrespect your patrons.
