Good cheap drinks and bartenders! This is a very old neighborhood bar. The place looks much better since there has been new ownership. The crowd is better as well since they have active security staff that checks ID. They have a jukebox and multiple TVs. They also have a DJ on the weekend. No cover charges ever here. You can have parties here also...not sure if there is a fee or not. They do not have a kitchen, but do allow you to bring in your own food. You can even have food delivered here. If you like your drinks stong with a hint of danger, this is the place for you. Bartender and service was good but the atmosphere gave anything could happen at anytime. There is a glass door that leads you directly into the venue that slammed whenever someone entered and 90% of the time it was unmanned and people just flooded in. Security did not secure anything, at one point I saw him with 2 guns on his side (maybe 3) take one out and flash it to a woman turning on the "red beam" aiming at the floor. I'm a karaoke fan. Mallards has a nice crowd for karaoke. The down side is that it starts late, 9PM on Thursdays. It becomes difficult to hang out and work. The older light complexioned barmaid is rude. She has the potential to make you not want to be in the bar. Thankfully, others help keep you there. The food is ok. I liked the breakfast burger.
