Copper Canyon is your standard “Americana” pseudo-upper-end chain style (per their website it appears to be a Maryland chain) restaurant in Silver Spring. The menu is what one would expect from this type of a restaurant: steaks, grilled meats, sandwiches, etc. We were referred to this restaurant by a hotel worker where we were staying nearby, who described the restaurant is rather expensive. I actually found the restaurant’s prices reasonable by today’s standard. The restaurant was busy and we didn’t have a reservation, but were able to get a seat outside. Our server was nice, but sort of pushy – didn’t really give us time to look at the menu after we sat down. We ordered drinks, and she then came back a few moments later without our drinks and asked if we were ready, so we ordered. I ordered their signature roasted chicken, which was decent, but nothing original nor outstanding, while my partner had the ribeye. A few moments later she appeared with the drinks, and sort of apologized I think for not bringing when she came to take our order for the main courses. The main courses came out suspiciously quickly, too quickly – and the youth food-runner worker who brought the food slammed the plates down so hard that it spilled my partner’s au jus sauce all over his plate. I complained to our waitress who was apologetic, but did nothing to remedy the situation. I also have to point out that my partner’s club soda glass was dirty on the inside. Long story short, the food was OK, nothing special, but generous portions, like I said very “Americana.” It’s a good place to go if you are with picky unadventurous dining companions, or just don’t know what you want – but nothing I will be in a hurry to go back to, especially with the other little fallacies. 2.5 to 3/5

OK, so I didn't want to write a review of Copper Canyon Grill until I had been back. My first experience was at the Glenarden location prior to the pandemic, and I was blown away. The service was impeccable, the food outstanding and the atmosphere pleasant and inviting. When my wife's birthday approached recently and I asked her where she'd like to go to celebrate, she immediately said Copper Canyon Grill. This time we visited the newly remodeled Silver Spring location and the results were the same: exceptional food and service at an affordable price. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. I was literally watching every plate that went past our booth on a serving tray. The Ahi Tuna, the steaks, the burgers, the skillet cornbread...you name it. But I would be remiss if I didn't mention their rotisserie chicken, which is the house specialty. Whether you order a chicken pot pie or a salad with chicken, the chicken you get in those dishes was roasted on site. Copper Canyon Grill is a scratch kitchen, so everything is made there fresh. And don't pass up the desserts. You'll be doing yourself a disservice. We ordered coffee with our dessert and they brought it to us in a French press. Elegant dining at an affordable price. You cannot do better than Copper Canyon Grill. Update: This time it was my niece's birthday and she wanted to go to Copper Canyon. So, we went to the Glenarden location. My wife and I tried the latest permanent addition to the menu: Pork Shank. It was out of this world. Served with a small amount of gravy, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts, it is an amazing addition. My niece had the prime rib, and it was just as incredible. You cannot go wrong by visiting this place!

We had an afternoon reservation on a Saturday for 5. We checked in at the time, and our table was being prepared. There's seating inside at the entrance while you wait for your party to arrive. Staff was amazing from being greeted, to our waitresses (we had 2 as one was in training) as well as other waiters and waitresses. They are sure to make sure all of your needs are met and keep you up to date on your food/drink arrival. The atmosphere is phenomenal. White tablecloth service. Perfect temp inside on a hot day, and there was some outdoor seating if you wanted to enjoy the breeze. Also a bar area in front. Our group ordered across the board - Club chicken salad, Filet marinated salad, Rotisserie Chicken Salad, crab cake sandwich, and meatloaf. We also did two appetizers - calamari and spinach artichoke dip. Drinks- we had the watermelon sangria and the Domain St Michele wine. We loved the sangria!!! The fresh watermelon was a super nice touch. Wine was great too! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Not a request for anything additional was needed. The calamari was perfect, and so was the sauce. The sauce did have some grated cheese, so be sure to ask for that omitted if necessary. Spinach dip is also delicious and was paired with sour cream and salsa to accompany it. We stayed and laughed and talked afterwards without being rushed away. We enjoyed ourselves! Thank you to April and all who had a part in our day! Parking was easy in the garage right near the restaurant and was reasonable through Parkmobile app. Free on Sundays.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent General Manager, Mark Todd!!

Dear EVERYONE reading this post. If you ever run into ANY issues at this location before posting anything negative or creating negative reviews I strongly encourage you to talk to the person in charge. Your voice truly does matter at this place underneath the Leadership of Mark Todd. I, personally, believe in second chances.

With effective communication you'll truly get to see how you're able to turn a not so good experience around. Especially, when you're able to pause and breathe and talk to the leaders in charge. Poor stars shouldn't be given out because imperfect people failed to meet the mark. FIVE STARS should be given when a Leader is able to turn that poor experience around and offer an opportunity to make that experience better the next time.

My family & friends had the opportunity to dine at Copper Canyon Grill for a very special occasion. My friends wedding anniversary. My friends husband has been struggling with alcohol addiction for many years & she wanted to celebrate with people whom she knows Loves their family & can offer a moment of nurture & Love & Healing towards her husband. As embarrassing as her husband can come across at times he's also a good man struggling with life & addiction. I'm not going to go into all that happened. I'll just say that we ran into some issues with staff attitudes & behaviors directed towards him that literally left me feeling really heart broken & upset for him & for my friends family. I love them. Sometimes when people can't see someone else's pain or struggles they become critical or judgmental or will make fun of them which is hurtful. In my emotional state I could've ran to friends or to social media to communicate my negative experience but what good would that have done? None. None at all except cause more negativity to spread. I believe in having healthy conversations & allowing the space for Healing & resolutions, for all. And so, on my way out the door I spoke to one of the managers who took my information to have the General Manager follow up.

Mark called me back the very next day when he'd got the news of what had taken place.

The amount of compassion & empathy & patience & care that Mark Todd (General Manager) has shown to my family & our friends is just amazing!!! In our conversation, he made me feel HEARD & HUMAN. So I'm definitely not here to point at what went wrong on the day of his absence. Quite the contrary. I'm here to SPEAK UP & TO APPLAUD THIS INCREDIBLE LEADER FOR understanding from one human to another what it means to exemplify EMPATHY & COMPASSION towards hurting people who walk through the doors of your establishment to eat a meal together & to find comfort (in the food & in the time spent with one another) in a world that lacks much of it nowadays. I have not ONE single doubt in my mind that the next time my family & friends visit this place that we'll have a GREAT experience. Thank you Mark for CARING about PEOPLE as much as I do. đŸŽ€âœšđŸ€— YOU...

This was my first and last time at this establishment. We were easily there at least 45 minutes longer than we needed to be dealing with disappearing staff. Today was Easter Sunday and although we had reservations when we got there around 5 it really wasn't all that busy. Nonetheless, we proceeded to wait for about 15 minutes at the table just for a waitress to finally come and ask for our drink orders. Then we get the drinks but she didn't leave us straws or allow us time to ask for appetizers or really to say anything at all. Then after another 5 minutes or so I just went up to the bar to grab us some straws because we have two kids under 5 years old and they were getting restless being unable to drink their drinks because they didn't have straws. In the meantime, I watched our waitress go greet, joke with, and break down other tables without so much as glancing in our direction. Once she finally returned we ordered our appetizers and our meals since we weren't sure when we'd see her again. Our appetizers came but then we ran out of chips so when one of the hostesses came to ask how we were doing I asked for more chips and she said she would get our waitress but 5 minutes later we still hadn't seen our chips, the hostess or our waitress. We flagged down our waitress for more chips and we received our food not too long after. The waitress asked if we needed anything else and we were eating and thus content until we finished eating and tried to ask for the check but there was a 15-20 minute block where no one came to check on us. When the waitress returned we asked for our check and were fuming while debating whether we should leave her a note or what to do since we don't believe in docking tips since restaurants don't pay living wages. Yet another 10 minutes or so passed by with our kids whining more as it was getting late and I was completely fed up so I went to the hostesses and asked them to settle our bill so we could go home and instead they flagged down our waitress and we paid and got out of there. I'm not sure what brought on the terrible service tonight since, as I mentioned, the restaurant wasn't busy, but it was a terrible end to our Easter Sunday. Tldr: terrible service, wouldn't recommend, won't...

On 5/11/2019 I came to this location around 9pm after an hours wait for dinner with my partner’s graduation party. I ordered the Maui steak medium. The waiter came back to the table to verify the temp for the steak I verified I wanted the steak medium. The steak came to the table burned to a crisp. I cut a small piece off the edge then I made two cuts in the center. The steak was over cooked as there were no juices flowing and no warm pink center. My partner requested the steak go back. The waiter took the steak. The manager came to the table with the steak and I explained to him what the problem was with the steak. He attempted to tell me that the steak was okay and I didn't cut it in the center to see it was cook to my specifications. I told him that I had cut the steak and it was burned and over cooked to please get his GM, as I am now offended, that he would argue at me about a steak. I had no issue paying for the steak. The manager left and another man came with the steak cut into pieces on a plate shining a flash light on the steak. He then begin to tell me I didn't know what a medium cooked steak was and that I got what I ordered. I asked him to please leave the steak on the bill and bring me my check. I have traveled the globe multiple times over and never been treated like this in a restaurant.

I have never been so humiliated before in my life. I am not sure why I was ridiculed in this restaurant whether it is because we were LGBT, Black or because I am disabled. This was my first time dining here at the advice of my partner and his colleagues and it was a disaster not only was my meal ruined but it ruined his college graduation dinner. This could have been simply fixed if the management would have followed my instructions and taken the steak away. I didn't care if I was charged for the steak or not but the humiliation is something I will never forget. I am a veteran who has served my country and the last thing I expect is to get chastised in a restaurant about a...
