I’ve lived in the area for years — Keyser, just 20 miles down the road — and I’ve passed by Henny’s Grill & Bar more times than I can count. I always meant to stop, always said “next time,” and somehow never did… until now. And let me tell you — not stopping sooner was a huge mistake.
We were heading out for a casual dinner, originally planning to hit Ruby Tuesday’s. But as we turned onto US 40 from Winchester Road, my wife looked over, saw Henny’s, and said, “We’ve talked about it forever. Let’s finally try it.” We pulled in — and that decision turned a routine dinner into an unforgettable evening.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like regulars. The friendly, attentive staff made us feel instantly welcome — and the menu? Loaded with options that scream comfort, flavor, and quality.
My wife ordered the New York Strip — a beautifully cooked, bold-flavored, hand-cut 10 oz. steak grilled to perfection. Add in a baked potato and a fresh salad, and she was in steakhouse heaven. She didn’t speak much after that meal arrived… and that’s how I knew it was that good.
I went with the salmon fillet, and it was outstanding. Lightly seasoned, broiled just right — tender, juicy, and rich with flavor. It came with a baked potato and applesauce on the side, which was great — but what really put it over the top was the hot melted butter they brought out with the salmon. That’s a thoughtful, flavorful touch most restaurants skip — but it made a big difference and showed the level of care they put into every plate.
Henny’s isn’t just good — it’s the kind of place that reminds you why you love local dining. Quality food, warm service, and a menu that delivers every time. We won’t just be back — we’ll be back often.
If you’re from the area and haven’t tried Henny’s yet, don’t make the same mistake I did. Pull in, sit down, and prepare to...
Read moreWhen we first sat down at our table we kept smelling something awful. We finally realized it was the tabletop itself. Horrible smell! I went and got wet paper towels from the bathroom and scrubbed the table down discreetly. That took care of the odor. Our food arrived. My sirloin tips were more towards well done than the medium i had requested. Terribly overseasoned and I was only able to eat a few bites while struggling to chew the meat. The baked potato had a brownish color on the inside and a hard dry skin which told me it was baked way ahead of time, most likely refrigerated and reheated. It tasted bad. The asparagus was excellent. My companions meatloaf was just ok. The mashed potatoes were institutional grade from a fine powder mixed with water. Just awful. I was given 50% off my meal. Whoopie! Never ever again. The atmosphere is lovely but we only saw our waitress once and wasted about 20 minutes trying to get someone to bring us a check so we could leave. We went home and both felt strange for hours. I vomited after midnight when the meat I had eaten came back up. Like I said,...
Read moreWe had a party of 20 and they gave us two servers which was nice. All of the food came out hot and on time however the wait staff never informed us that gratuity was going to be included in our check. I understand the reason for this that being said I do think it's something that should be told to theguests in the restaurant because the waitress would have gotten a bigger tipfrom us than what she automatically generated in the system. I have no problem with tipping for good service or for them doing what they need to I do have a problem with them automatically adding gratuity without making that clear to us ahead of time that this is what's going to happen. Other than that Camille was good.and that's the reason that it is only three...
