Called in an order for two of the calzones that were on special. The wait staff ran the card at the counter, handed my husband the food and told him to have a nice day. Within a half hour (while we were driving home) the waitress left a voicemail saying she didn’t notice that the slip said declined. I didn’t even notice the voicemail until 20 minutes later when the actual OWNER was leaving a second voicemail, threatening to call the state police on us for our card being declined. The owner was horribly unprofessional and had an attitude problem when it wasn’t even our fault that we left without knowing. The wait staff handed my husbands card back and told him to have a nice day! That is an obvious sign that all is good, so we left thinking everything was fine! I wouldn’t be writing this if the owner had called in a respectful manner, even with the food being subpar, I still wouldn’t be saying anything, I would just carry on with my day and not order again. But instead of the owner being professional and understanding, he called and left a voicemail stating that he had the license plate number and would call the state police if we didn’t come in and fix it. I answered halfway through the voicemail being left, confused because what kind of establishment allows a customer to leave the store without paying for the food, then calls and threatens them? Had the wait staff said hey this card declined, it would have been corrected in the store. As I answered the owner “Mike” he demanded that we come back in to pay for the food, and I gave him another card over the phone, not a thank you, not an apology for the misunderstanding, just an egotistical attitude of superiority the entire time. I could understand the threats if they had called 6 times, that wasn’t the case. We ordered at 4:45pm. 30 minute wait, Picked up around 5:15pm, and the voicemail from the wait staff was left around 5:18pm. At 6:08pm, a notification popped up that a voicemail was being left (the owner). This was such a wrong thing to do to a customer, and I will never return.
All of this over a $12 order for 2 calzones that were barely edible. The dough was not fresh, it was crunchy and tasted like something that comes from a freezer section in the grocery store. Large chunks of sausage that tasted like they weren’t cooked, barely any cheese and the sauce cup had cheese melted into it. The dough tasted like I was eating a cracker with the way it crunched. I could only make it through half of it before I tossed the rest of it, so all of this, threats to call the state police for $12 worth of food that didn’t even taste good.
I also want to add that I’m not a person who leaves reviews, Im not the kind to complain about the quality of food, and I understand that mistakes happen, especially when there is new equipment being put into place. After I got the call from the owner, I went back and listened to the message left by the employee that my husband dealt with. She did not threaten. She did not place blame on us. She simply stated that it was a new system and she didn’t notice that the top of the slip that printed said “declined”. She admitted to her mistake and was kind in her voicemail. There was no reason for the level of hostility that came from the owner over a simple mistake that was made by one of his employees. As for us, we will never do business here again. I would much rather give my money to a small business than to a snob who thinks he has the right to talk down to the people who line his pockets. And he calls himself a Christian. Beware, you may be the next one to fall victim to a simple mistake here and be threatened with law enforcement. A one star review is too good for this place, but it won’t allow me to rate any lower. No wonder the parking lot was empty when we pulled in to pick up our food we were accused of...
Read moreFood; I went here to eat with my boyfriend and his dad. we ordered 1 meat lovers pizza 18 slice, the pizza was rather small each slice being "kid sized" but really grab able. My mans dad ordered a lasagna, while it was sizeable when I asked him how it is he said "its alright". The sauce was sweet. My boyfriend ordered a strombolli that he never recieved, when we looked over the recipe before paying we found that our waitress never even added that to our order. I ordered the Chicken alfraido but recieved the artichoke alfraido instead.. I don't really like artichokes but the tomatoes in the pasta were really fresh and good, the artichoke made things a bit too floral for my taste but the garlic bread was good, Texas toast style with a good crunch and soft inside.
Service; Our waitress was verry kind but obviously overwhelmed, poor girl was running the entire place alone aside from the chefs, none of the kitchen staff made any move to help so I wouldent be suprised if there was only 1 chef too... When I asked the waitress I was told all the other wait staff called off that day. The managers/owners need to hire more competent people who don't all call off with nobody els willing to come in and cover, I'm sure if she were not running the whole place alone none of our order would have been forgotten or incorrect. She was running a full restraunt with over 10 tables, the to-go counter, and running out pick up orders all alone, no Help, I'm disappointed in management.
Conclusion; I have no plans to dine...
Read moreCareful with what you order. Don’t expect ingredients to not be cross contaminated. Beware. Ordered a half veg, half chicken, ended up with bacon all over the pizza. Returned to the restaurant after only 5 minutes as we had only driven down the road to charge our car. The owner came out in filthy clothing and the most horrible attitude; claimed he made the pizza and the bacon all over the pizza was due to driving around with it!. This is a cheese pizza which supposedly had all its toppings fly all over the place in a 2 min drive down the road. Frankly speaking after taking one look at the owner/chef we were so turned off by his appearance and lack of cleanliness that we just decided to take the loss and walk away. For a business located off the highway and dependent almost entirely on tourist traffic, you think the management would try harder to make things rights. It was only one medium pizza. I should also add the girl at the front was very prepared to handle such issues as she wasted no time in grabbing the owner/chef even before I was done explaining the problem. You can tell the restaurant is used to dissatisfied customers and the staff is trained well in how to deal with them. Such a shame. In any case, we left the pizza on...
