IHOP — Restaurant in Maryland

Apparently poorly managed. Apparently they only had one cook in the kitchen and what looked like not enough waiters. My party arrived to find a line but many tables available. After hearing the folks at the front of the line had been wait 35 minutes and 10 minutes later a couple walked out saying they'd been waiting an over an hour to get fed we and pretty much everyone else in line decided to leave and go elsewhere.

This is an update on 7/10/2021. I took my son's family here to eat and the place was pretty much empty but the service was not up to par for what it should be. My son and I both ordered Country Fried steak and requested plenty of white gravy. What we got barely had a small dollop of gravy. A country Fried Steak should be somthered in white gravy. We requested additional gravy but by the time it came out our steaks were pretty much cold. Thankfully the gravy was hot though. That helped.

Funny thing though after we had gotten our check the waiter came back and said let me make sure I gave you the correct check. Well the guy pulled a switcher-roo on me and gave me a different check that was a couple of dollars more than the first. We called him back to the table and asked what the heck. He said it was for the additional gravy. We said whoa there the steak did not have as much gravy as it should have had and our steaks were cold by the time we got the extra gravy. The waiter gave us our original check back. This attempted slight of hand bothered me and left a bad impression on me.

I've had this same waiter before and his service was not bad the first time. This time, however, it was worse. Wait times for refills on drinks were some what far between and he did not check on us very often.

I doubt I'll be back to this IHOP any time soon. There are others I can go to. We had debated going to Pizza Hut instead but my granddaughter wanted to go to IHOP because she wanted a...

Arrived at 4 no host/staff available to seat us. After about a 5 minute wait, I called their line and the automated machine announced the line was busy. I called twice and got the same message both times. When staff finally came up front she was coming to deliver an online order. After she did so, she asked how many and proceeded to walk towards the booth she would seat us at. No greeting. In fact, it was I that said hello to her. She walked away and we glanced the menu. A few minutes go by and no server has come out. A few minutes later someone comes out BUT she's on her cellphone and when I ask her where our waiter is, she raises her finger and ask me to hold a minute as she walks away. By this time I should have left but I had my littles with me and after 2 straight hours of play they were hungry and wanted Ihop 10 minutes went by and I went to the kitchen door asking "hello are you all open" the same lady that walked out on the phone appeared as our waitress 🤦🏽‍♀️ I rattled off our order which I knew by heart because I had been waiting for ever. Finally after all of the waiting and being ignored, our order was taken and the food followed shortly after. 2 of the 5 littles ate there food. I didn’t like my pancakea or eggs and the bacon wasn't cooked throughly.

I paid. I tipped and I left. There were only 2 other customers in the store a couple who had been there well beforehand. There was no reason my experience here should have been this horrible from beginning to end.

This is the first time I've left IHOP Disappointed. Thats coming from a guy who went to IHOP every weekend in college, literally. Compared to other IHOPS this is by far the worst I've been too. I figured the experience would be great like any other IHOP but I was wrong. I'm disappointed with a couple things. I'll do my best to be objective. 1) Food was cold. Both mine and my wife's eggs with cheese and hash browns look to have been sitting for a while and were a little cooler than room temperature. 2)Very disappointed with the portion sizes. My blue berry pancakes were "Silver Dollar" pancakes that came off the kid menu. As a matter of fact we ordered silver dollar kids meal for my 4 year old and her pancakes were the same size as mine. My only regret is not taking a picture for proof or calling a manager and voicing my opinion at the time. The waitress let me know that sometimes its a miss. I just gave her the dumb look. 3) My wife ordered French toast that look like the stuff that comes in a box that you put in a toaster from the freezer in the grocery store. She confirmed that the french toast tasted weird as well. Needless to say this IHOP did not live up to our expectation and we won't be back. For the manager or IHOP HQ rep that reads this.
