I’ve been a loyal customer for many years, but I had a disappointing experience during my most recent visit. Even though it was close to closing time, I decided to buy two slices of cheese pizza, though they didn’t look especially fresh in the display. When I commented on this, the gentleman behind the counter (possibly the owner or manager) offered a few explanations for why the slices looked that way. I asked whether the pizzas in the window were being held over for the next day, and he assured me that was not the case. While I appreciated the clarification, it struck me that instead of selling slices that were clearly past their best, a better gesture would have been to offer an extra slice or a small courtesy to your last customer of the evening. That small act would not have cost much, but it would have left a positive impression. As someone who has worked in the hospitality business for over 35 years, I know firsthand how generosity and small gestures can build customer loyalty and long-term success. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling that customer satisfaction is not a priority here, and I am unlikely to return...
Read moreLooking at some other recent reviews, I see a trend of people saying that Italian Gardens isn't what it used to be. It definitely seems like new management has taken over. After sitting down here for dinner the other night with my family, I definitely agree. The first thing we noticed was that the menu is probably half the size it used to be. Most of our favorite pasta dishes are gone, and only super basic options are left like spaghetti and meatballs and eggplant parmesan. Fried calamari and other classic appetizers are no longer on the menu. We ordered two pizzas (Gardener's and taco) and a few appetizers (fried pickles, fried zucchini sticks, and Old Bay boneless wings). Both pizzas were very bland--the sauce and the crust had very little flavor. This used to be my favorite pizza place in the area, so that dinner was pretty upsetting. The fried pickles and zucchini sticks were fine, but the Old Bay boneless wings were nothing more than chicken tenders with some Old Bay lightly sprinkled on top. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because our waitress provided...
Read moreAn Italian restaurant with an americanized menu. Typical pasta dishes along with some sandwiches, pizza, salads, etc. Nothing will stand out on the menu with exotic ingredients, or classic ingredients used in unique ways, but this place will get you full with their portions and generally consistent taste. Having been there multiple times for lunch, I have settled on their pizza or meatball sub as my staples.
Service is usually quick when dining in even during rush hours. Haven't had a problem with the service or cleanliness of the facilities. They accommodate children very well and my child enjoys coming here. The price is reasonable, and their pizza lunch special is a great deal with 2 slices and a drink. Seating is available inside the restaurant, or you can get it to go and sit in the mall around the fountain.
Probably not a destination to seek out from far away, but is a great place if you are...
