We met an out-of-state family member here for lunch. Normally she comes to our home in Westminster for lunch one day during her excursions from Massachusetts. However, most of her activities and her place of residence are in the Towson area. At age 83 now, she has a cardiac problem, as well as vision disturbance that's not 100% correctable. I simply couldn't imagine having to drive round-trip to see. We offered to go to Towson and take her to the restaurant of her choice for lunch. THE PEPPERMILL Restaurant in Lutherville was her delightful choice. We had not been there in about 20 years due to the distance from our home. The atmosphere was quiet and calm, making it easy to converse with others in our party. The majority of the patrons at lunchtime this Monday were elderly. The dress was business casual. I hadn't planned to review THE PEPPERMILL because this was a reunion of elderly cousins who are easily distracted at times. Therefore, I have no pictures of the food. The servings of everything we ordered were elegantly plated, which contributed to the pleasure of the dining experience. One member of our party had a serving of cream crab soup, which she declared was excellent. It had a thick, creamy broth, and it was loaded with lumps of plump white local crab meat. The other two enjoyed splitting a fried onion ring appetizer. The rings were crisp, tasty, a good size, and there were plenty for 2 people. I had the rockfish from the Chesapeake Bay topped with lumps of Maryland blue crab and house imperial sauce. Every bite was scrumptious. The rockfish was so mild and tender that I knew I would come back when I returned to the area. Each of us ended with a moderate serving of lemon sorbet. I had said I would pass on dessert. However, when I saw the lovely appearance of my companions' servings, I couldn't resist trying it. It was freshly swirled in a tall, slender glass, and had a rich bright yellow color. Not a single lump was to be seen. The taste lived up to the appearance 100%. The bill, which also included a beer and an Old-fashioned, was under $90 with a tip. Amazing. We had a delightful time and a...
Read moreRoaches! Gross! Horrible experience! Went there with my girlfriends for an event and was grossed out that a roach crawled up my arm! Smells like aged urine, like an old pissy phone booth there. Dirty old worn carpets and sagging smelly seating. Bathroom was out in the hallway lobby because the building was shared by other offices. Peppermill does not have a restroom of their own! There was a creepy-looking man standing around in the lobby outside the restrooms just standing there. We don't know what was going on with that. Me and my girlfriends are middle aged but very attractive and were frightened, plus the bathroom was filthy, smelly, gross! The restaurant was full of really decrepit people. We can bet they had urine incontinence and/or fecal accidents on the seating and/or floors. You have to walk past the tiny filthy open kitchen to go down a long hallway and out a door to a public lobby to get to the filthy bathroom with 2 tiny stalls. ( If you are not tiny then you will not fit in the stall.) Low and behold 2 cockroaches appeared in there! We felt like we were in a government nursing home for the insane by the way the drunks were so loud and yelling at the bar, and by the looks of the servers and clientele (We think the bulk of the clientele were demented or hard at hearing.) We overheard a family complaining about their food. Oh yes, the food was very cold, tasteless, disappointing. We are never returning there! It's a shame because it used to be a good clean restaurant in the past, but not...
Read moreI was raised in Timonium & have known abt the Peppermill Restaurant for decades. It has been that long since going there. You know if a restaurant has survived, grown & managed to stay in the same location for over 30 yrs especially these days when statistically speaking 7 out if 10 fail within the first few yrs (many even sooner). That pretty much tells the story of how good the Peppermill Restaurant is. My brother invited the wife & I tonight (Saturday 9/28/19) to catch up. We were.looking forward to it as well had not been there for so long. Reservation was at 6:30. The place was very busy.w/30 min + wait for those w/o reservation. We were seated promptly. Freash caught halibut a special along w/meatloaf which is very popular as home made. All 3 of us had Prime Rib ($18.95 w/1 side incl). Excellent! I ordered a side salad which was large enough for us to split. Deb & Cindy were very nice at the bar. Prices r very reasonable for the quality of food, ambiance, & staff. Parking was crowded even though very large parking lot so many know of this dining gem. We will go again sooner than we ever thought because it's just not easy finding such a GREAT PLACE TO.GO OUT these days without thinking how much u had to spend. I probably should say it was only fair so no one else thinks much about trying so we can be greedy & keep the secret, but real truth is u should try & I'll bet u want to go back again sooner than...
