I found this restaurant about 6 months ago and went there a few times with my daughter and was happy EATING IN. Today we didn't have time to eat inside so we called ahead to pick up. It was very difficult to understand the woman's English at Nova Sushi. I asked to review my order to ensure it was correct before paying. She said it was done and pointed to it. I asked if we could add another roll and be out in 5 minutes. If it would take longer, I did not want the extra roll because I had to get to the airport. She said yes and yelled in another language at the sushi chefs. I paid with a card. Got a $20 bill broken for a separate tips - her and sushi chef. I was waiting to tip her until I received my food, learned that lesson already. Then we sat at the sushi bar looking at our food directly across from us for 15-20 minutes, I finally went to a Sushi chef and asked him to please put the lids on our food and give it to us. We Were hungry and needed to go.

I bought 3 Crispy Salmon Rolls, spicy tuna, white tuna roll, The Crispy Salmon Rolls are $8.95 each which is ok for what you get when dining inside. But when ordering to-go, they made 1 roll and cut it in half, then put a half in the boxes and the other half in another box. Then they made a very small one for the 3rd box. They also didn't add the good sweet brown sauce that is normal on the fried rolls. We got out to the car and open our fried rolls to start eating and they are COLD!!! and I could taste the oil/grease. $48 dollars for a cold meal of half size portions that should have lasted me for days, not 1 day. Unfortunately I .will not be in hurry to go there again and leave big tips anymore. ...

Well hoped for a nice meal but what I received shocked me. Have been patron of Nova for years and have noticed the last few times quality was off. This time ordered three rolls and two entrees along with a couple of sides for take out. The teriyaki chicken looked appetizing until you took a bite. Although it had a nice glaze it was extremely overcooked. The General Tso chicken which is usually full of flavor was bland and water logged from what I can only guess was improperly drained broccoli. Next the sushi - we had asked them on prior occasions to separate the cooked and uncooked rolls. I think you know where I'm going and yes they were together. Furthermore instead of slicing a single piece of fish they used chopped which amounted to mush. This is not a cheap place so one should expect the highest execution. I am not the type to make a big deal but I couldn't let the inedible chicken go. Drove all the way back to restaurant to put up with attitude. The person behind register advised she refunded the entire check and recharged my card minus the dish. While I was interacting with person a chef walked up and they exchanged words in foreign language. He then snatched the bag with meal and walked to back. We received our monthly bill and were charged twice! Another trip to restaurant only to be told we have to dispute it with card company. To exacerbate the situation when she completed the initial charge she said "if there is a problem come in and I'll take care of it. The person behind the register was same person as night of issue. Wasn't going to post but the credit card issue was the last straw....

Fresh, soft sushi...but that's just the start. What I really want to write about is the experience we had. We had called in a take-out order, but when we got home, we discovered that the hot items (miso soup and steamed rice) were missing. Losing the miso soup was not so bad, but the steamed rice was to have been my toddler's dinner (he loves sushi rice), and he was very disappointed (and hungry!). And so I had to cook some rice for him. I called the restaurant, and I am afraid that my own displeasure at the situation put me at little better than my toddler's behavior. So I was very much surprised (and somewhat embarrassed) when the next day, the owner arrived at my door bearing not only my refund but a gift certificate and an in-person apology. She explained that they had been short-handed, and that her husband (the sushi chef) tried to help her out by packaging up our order, but he had only included the sushi bar items. She was extremely apologetic and hoped we would come back again. And we certainly will... the sushi was delicious, best I've had in the local area. And I think next time we will go in person -- the inside of the restaurant was warm and inviting. So glad we have found this place, and so pleased with...

Let me just start out by saying that I go into sushi places I've never been in before with low expectations. Few are as good as I like and many are just so-so. I sat at the bar as usual to chat with the chef and watch the magic and technique. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised by this little place in Edgewater by the knowledge and experience and taste and personality of the head chef. The caliber of the meat was top notch for the area and I can't say enough good things about Nova. Highly recommend. I got the chefs sashimi special. Talked him through what I typically like and don't like and his choices for me we're spot on with the fatty tuna, the salmon belly meat, and a few other of his choices. Also if you like spicy and tuna try the wicked tuna roll. It is so legit! Thanks! I will 💯% be back

First, the food is excellent. They have some very creative rolls, appetizers, and items on the menu you don't always find at other sushi restaurants. I tried the crispy salmon skin salad this time and it was excellent! Secondly, the staff and service were wonderful, quick, efficient, and appropriate attentive. The only minor complaint is they wanted to clear the drink menu from the table even though we ordered drinks and had requested to keep it in case we wanted more. Lastly the atmosphere was pleasant, clean place, nothing amazing but also nothing negative to note. Another bonus is they serve with reusable metal chopsticks, always a plus to minimize waste. Will definitely go back, bring friends, and spread the word.

We were visiting from Texas and had bad experiences with other restaurants in the area and just wasn't sure where to go. We decided to check out Nova since they were still open. When walking in we were a bit concerned because it was empty besides the staff. We received a warm welcome and was seated immediately. I ordered sushi and was fresh and delicious! My daughter ordered the chicken Pad Thai which is probably the best Pad Thai I've ever tasted. My husband tried the Ramen and it too was flavorful. It was the perfect ending to bad restaurant experiences that day.
