I ordered online. Two orders of creamed chipped beef, curly fries, one order of boneless wings, sauced in Toxic. Side of blue cheese and a lemonade. I ordered two chipped beef because places are often tight with it and I wanted enough to fill. The order came according to its predetermined estimate; with no flatware whatsoever. Of course, there was a menu, but no fork, no spoon no knife. Thanks guys! Now to the food. The chipped beef while maybe salty for others, was good to me. Now, I ordered curly fries because I like crisp, properly cooked potatoes unless baked. I purposely avoid "homefries" because they are often half cooked, poorly seasoned, schlocked full of limp onions mess that has become the lazy standard at every greek diner on the eastern seaboard. Fried potatoes should rattle in the pan when they are done, they should be crisp all around and buttery almost french fry puffed on the inside; this is harder than to boil potatoes and half-ass chop them on the flattop. So I was not happy to have something similar to leftover bakes potatoes underneath the chipped beef. Now...the boneless wings texture wise were very strange and some were very good (some felt like a sponge). I ordered Toxic because I would assume, incorrectly it would seem that they would be somewhat spicy and maybe more spicy than most of the other ones. Well, I was wrong. Someone thinks that putting Soy Sauce and Honey with probably some sugar and a few pepper flakes, makes them a chef. It was salty and cloyingly sweet, I threw most of them out. On a positive note the Lemonade from Cloverland was great. Original rating 2/5 stars.
So now, at the request of Palmisano's I have tried their establishment again, and actually twice since my last review. It is only fair. So for the first order:
-4 D'Italian Egg Sandwhiches -Creamed Chipped Beef with Biscuits -4 Orders Scrapple
The Italian Egg Sandwiches were perfectly pan fried sandwhiches (just like the grilled cheese gramma made). They have a fried agg, ham, cheese and thick marinara. They could elevated the flavor profile with some peppers and onions, maybe a fleck of crushed red pepper but, it was a solid, well made sandwhich. The scrapple was cooked almost perfect (i like it crispier than most). "Rapa" as the gentleman on the phone told me, was the brand and it tasted great. The creamed chipped beef was quite good the only problem is that biscuits, even good biscuits should be on the slightly overbaked side when you have this combinaton because you end up combining a great biscuit with gravy and have glue. I will order toast next time. I'm being picky about this but, this is a review. Now the potatoes. Somewhere, someone saw my last review and they really upped their game, the onions were almost crispy and the potatoes while not totally fried crisp were a resounding improvement over the last order of potatoes. Well done.
2nd Order -4 orders of scrapple -2 orders chipped beef gravy on wheat toast, homefries -1 order bacon
Scrapple was, of course, great. Great crispy unctuous, livery, minerally heaven. The toast solved the biscuit glue problem making it a great meal. The bacon was crispy (i like crispy) and the fat just melted away. The potatoes were consistent with the aforementioned improvements. I must say, that I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend Palmisano's as a great...
Read moreI wish I could have given them 5 stars. I usually get Italian cold cut subs at Maria's of Carney, but they started putting less meat on their sub, so time to look around. The reviews for Palmisano's Italian cold cut sub were good. Even the one bad review complained that the roll was soggy, however, Palmisano's replied that it was because they put oil & vinegar directly on their subs, but you can ask to have it on the side. Awesome, I love it! Gimme some oil & vinegar directly on the sub! I ordered a sub with everything except hots. Unfortunately, even though Palmisano's wrote that oil & vinegar was standard on all their Italian cold cut subs, mine had none. Zero. Zip. If it's standard, why would I have to ask to make sure they put it on? Do I have to ask to make sure they put cold cuts on the cold cut sub, too?? Also, when I went to pick up the sub, I picked up a bag of chips and an ice cream sandwich. Unfortunately, the woman who answered the phone when I called in my order was on a delivery and the guy running the cash register didn't know how to put those items in, so Palmisano's lost the sale and I went instead to Royal Farms. Too bad it wasn't a good experience, I would like to have found a new "go to" sub shop. I might be back, but Palmisano's made the decision for me to try other sub...
Read moreNew owners but still the same great food. Very friendly. This comment was based on a pizza I ordered a year ago. I visited this location this week and had a cheesestak sub. After that experience I felt it necessary to revise my previous rating. This was the worst cheesesteak I have ever had. It was not anywhere close to what you were served by the original owners who I used to visit at least once a week. The meat was heavily salted. I thought they forgot to put cheese on the sub. When I opened the sandwich to check I found what looked like I very thin slice of cheese. I love a good cheesesteak and visit different shops to see how good they are. This is by far the worst sub I have tried in recent memory and I will not be back. The only good thing about it was the bread. It did not have enough meat (maybe a good thing since it was too salty anyway). The cheese not enough to even taste. The owner was in the shop while I was there and actually asked me how I liked the food. I basically told him what I stated above. He told me his customers raved about his cheesesteak sandwiches. That cannot be, unless my sub was a not their usual standard. I will not be back. It is a shame because this fairly...
