My husband and I stop at Reter's for late lunch regularly on the way home from my clinic visits. That's every 2 to 6 weeks. Both of us enjoy the crab cakes, which are deliciously seasoned and moist enough that no sauce has to be used. The crab meat is consistently in large lumps and no fillers are used. This entree comes with thick cut french fries, but I substituted onion rings for no added charge. When you order any entree, one of the several sides may be substituted without charge. Your choice of bread is included - roll, white, whole wheat, or rye. My husband and I each had a bowl of Maryland Crab Soup. We were surprised by how large the serving was. Both of us felt that it was the best Maryland crab soup that we have had in ages, and we order Maryland crab soup often when we are out dining. It was very nicely seasoned, we could taste the seasoning but it did not overwhelm the taste of the ingredients. There were plenty of fresh lumps of crab meat in the bowl as well as an abundance of a variety of vegetables. My husband had a Lobster Roll with onion rings. I already described the crab cakes. The onion rings were thick with a crisp texture and no hint of greasiness. The menu says the Lobster comes with crispy fried bacon on top for added flavor. The sandwich was loaded with a good amount of fresh lobster, which was mildly seasoned and very tasty. However the bacon was overwhelming. My husband said he'd ask to have it left off in the future. There's an extensive variety of beers and specialty alcohol drinks available. There's a full bar. Everything is wheelchair accessible and the bathroom stall even has everything you need for cleaning your hands inside. There's also a hand washing station outside of the entrance to the restrooms for those enjoying steamed crabs. Everything is clean and there's no fish smell like most places that handle raw seafood.

Not the best experience. I brought a family member here from out of state to “represent maryland crabs” and it was pretty embarrassing to say the least. Crabs were sold out. Not their fault, but we were served disgusting crab dip. I have never seen such a separated dip in a restaurant served that way. My guest and I had 2 bites each and our stomachs hurt the rest of the meal. They charged $20 for this. Unfortunately I would absolutely never return and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The attached photo is CRAB DIP. Seriously gross. I have never seen such a gross crab dip. Ive had better at a dive bar. Edit: the day after writing their review my guest and I both developed food poisoning. our main entrees we ordered (and did not touch after eating the rancid dip), I contacted the restaurant and spoke to the manager explaining our food sat untouched in take out boxes in our fridge. Sent the management team photos, explained our food poisoning and was offered a gift card to try them again…. Absolutely not. I already bet my health on this place and URGE you to not eat here. Disgusting. Unappetizing. And a danger to your health.

Ok so this place use to be the place the best place to go to now but not now and what I mean by that is an entire bushel of crabs 300 dollars out of the bushel almost 2 dozen were opened and completely empty second we placed a call to them not even 30 minutes after we got home to be told and not talked to but talked at like we’re kids first a women says sure we’ll refund you then we’re told by another genius that we’ll give you have a bushel the crabs were completely trash garbage and the and this is comical but the owner says sounds like you bought to many which is none of your business to start off with first off mr smart guy first your implication was very rude and unprofessional we offered to bring back all the crabs that were left so we could get the refund that we were originally promised than who would want to eat those crabs again after that and from being offered our money back to being offered a half bushel is unprofessional and the joke of an owner says and I quote well I got 30 emails that they were great how were yours bad l. Well genius and I’m being sarcastic as you previously said all crabs are different so yes our crabs were empty and we wanted to bring every crab back besides about 20 you can’t con or try to scam someone out of the product when your brining it back and what was the most disappointing was how the owner spoke to people very arrogant very rude the fact that we’re buying food for the last 15 years from your establishment and for a and again comical the owner goes an disrespectfully says maybe you bought to many like we’re trying to scam how can it be a scam if you had every crab back besides around 20 the proof would have been there and as this lol owner said all crabs are different but of course says that after they got the 300 dollars and not to even offer half the money back very unprofessional and yet another funny thing was how this owner 🤣🤣claims all these good reviews after looking at the reviews which I wish I would have done sooner looks like there’s a lot of people who weren’t happy after spending...

Came for a mid Saturday afternoon lunch. Not too busy, but more people in the place than we expected at the off-time we arrived, particularly at the bar. Service and staff was good, and so was the food.

We took advantage of the $3.00 Make-Your-Own Bloody Mary special (they pour the vodka, and then you add the mixes, and other ingredients, of which there are many to choose from...I went with the traditional Bloody Mary Mix, my wife selected the Bloody Mary Bacon Mix, with a stalk of celery.

We ordered a combo plate of appetizers that included 4 large dry rubbed seasoned, breaded shrimp, 4 hot spicy wings, 4 mozzarella sticks. The platter also came with three dipping sauces. The appetizers arrived piping hot and were quite good. I particularly liked the shrimp, and my wife's favorite was the mozzarella sticks. We both thought the wings were a tad too spicy (and we love spicy), but they were nice and crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. The platter was a good choice, and went well with our Bloody Marys.

For lunch we shared a crab cake platter that included one crab cake, a stack of battered onion rings a dish of coleslaw. The crab cake was small, but excellent. It was really good, and we both wished we had more. The onion rings were nicely battered, crisp and hot. But the portion was also on the small side. And the coleslaw was good, but needed a bit of extra salt to bring out the flavor. It was a mayo based sweet slaw as opposed to a vinegar based tart slaw. It was good.

Overall we liked the lunch, but it was a bit pricey for the size of the portions, especially for a midday lunch. We are glad we went to Reter's since it has been a neighborhood staple for many years, but there are other places in the area to get great crab cakes, that are larger and more...
