I had not been here in four or five years. My 2019 rating was five stars because the food and service were excellent and the price was a bit high but reasonable for the overall experience. I recently heard good word-of-mouth feedback about the place and decided to try it again. The food is still very good. The service was alright - more on that in a moment. The place is very clean and tastefully decorated. The menus are now under the table-top glass (maybe a leftover from COVID-19?), which put me off a bit personally (but I would not hold that against them). The prices had crept up (in my opinion) past "a bit high" to "high". I ordered a water, no ice, with lemon, and the waiter brought it with so much ice the glass was too cold for me to even hold, and the water was way too cold for me to drink. That has become one of my pet peeves with restaurants; there is a reason I don't want ice, and I don't think it is an unreasonable request to ask them to actually do less work for my drink. The waiter did fix it, but shouldn't have had to. Anyway... I also ordered a hot tea. Today was a low-carb day for me, so I ordered the lamb skewer, rare, and I asked if any substitute could be made for the rice. I was told additional vegetables was the only available substitution, and I agreed to that. The meal came quickly and was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed my meal and asked if there was any cost for a refill on the tea, and the waiter said "no" and brought another. I was presented with a bill for the lamb and tea, which looked correct, so I provided my credit card. Before he ran my payment, and without telling me, he added a charge for "extra vegetables", then brought back the bill for me to sign. Fortunately, I noticed the bill total had jumped up around seven dollars, so I pointed out the situation to him. He did not argue, and said very quietly (I think) "sorry, my mistake" (or something like that) and ran a refund to my credit card for the difference. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and tipped 20% of the correct, pre-tax amount.
I'm quite ambivalent about the whole visit. I understand all food prices are going up, and I am okay with an occasional $35-$40, high quality, well-prepared meal, but adding something to the bill after showing it to me, without saying anything, is a huge no-no, so honestly I probably won't be going back in the...
Read moreI went here tonight with my wife and few members of her family; it was a party of five. The menu selection is sparse, but enough to choose something for every one. The reason for the 1-star was the service; my brother-in-law placed his order, but without knowing that the entree came with a house salad, he asked for one when we ordered.
We got our house salads, that come with every meal, which is not listed in the menu, by the way. They came out with a large house salad in addition to his order. We tried to clear it up with the waiter, he took the bigger salad and, as we were seated by the kitchen, I could hear our waiter talking (if not arguing) with what I presumed was the cook. Moments later, the actual owner came out, whose first language is clearly not English, trying to understand why he'd ordered a house salad if he didn't want one. Twice she tried to justify why they were still going to give/charge us for what he ordered. It was a misunderstanding of their lack of an explanation within their menu, and they blamed us.
When the bill came, sure enough we were charged for the salad. On top of that, we were charged an 18% gratuity for a party of five... I know this is normal in most establishments for a party of 8 or more, but that is ALWAYS listed somewhere either on the menu or at least on the receipt. Not here. I almost cited contract law and refused to pay, but I'm not one for making a scene. So we paid and simply left, vowing never to return.
Decent food, but not for the price. And the lack of service isn't worth either. Two...
Read moreThis place was wonderful. Our food was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I frequent Kabob and this was by far the best Middle Eastern food I have ever had. Everything was very fresh. The complimentary salad and bread with Tanori was amazing. Before I was done with dinner I knew I wanted the dessert menu. I ordered the ice cream which was made in house and was a very lovely touch to wrap up the meal. The ice cream was flavored with cinnamon and a slight hint of nutmeg. As I said, Great touch to end the meal. My boyfriend got the Chicken and Ribeye combo and I got the Chicken. Even though the owner was training and helping out in the kitchen she made it around to our table to make sure everything was to our liking. The atmosphere is very cute and a good spot for a date night dinner. Prices aren't bad either. I will be back. The only down side is I feel bad that she is one block off MD RT 5 in an industrial type area. Not that its bad or anything but I feel like she would get to volume of business she deserves. She did inform us the Friday and Saturday dinners are by reservation only and they are...
