Sonoma's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Maryland

Sonoma's is a great little bar and grill for the common man. It's not posh, nor is it a dive bar. They have great local talent playing on the weekends. The food at this establishment is similar to most bar fare and the beer is a bit pricey, even for the domestics. I may have missed the happy hours or the specials. The bathroom (at least the men's) has always been VERY clean and tidy and thank goodness it's a multi-user bathroom. This is a big plus as many establishments I've been to are 1-person restrooms which is difficult in a bar-setting. The parking is on the other side of the shopping center so it is a little awkwardly placed for this establishment. There is also outside seating which gives this place more of an appealing setting. One stand out of this bar and grill is the stage for the local talent on which to perform. It's a very generous stage which I don't see very often for bars and restaurants that accommodate local music performance. It is a very solidly raised and carpeted level, seemingly built into the bar with plenty of room even for a 5 or 6 piece band (unless the band is YES or Dream Theater). There is also a dedicated soundman area which is really nice for bands whom use a mixer/soundboard. This stage is top notch giving Sonoma's a quality establishment for fun-seekers. I cannot tell how the food was but what I can tell you how I felt with one of the employees/manager. So girls night out is what we wanted with live music. I searched and found this restaurant with good reviews and the band seem like it was a good one. We travel all the way to Columbia md to visit for the first Time as we enter, we are greeted with a cheerful host who said you can sit wherever you like. We see about six or seven table up front in front of the band of which two where reserved. All of a sudden this employee appeared from nowhere and told us we can sit in the back in the cornerfsr away from the bandI stated I don't want to sit in the corner I'd like to sit up front where all the empty tables are. He told us he's not breaking up a table for just two people with an attitude at that. Now if you can sit anywhere why are you telling us to sit in the back? Rude, 8:45pm saturday nite and very full/ busy. college games on. bar full, restaurant section full. 4 open small bar tables at back of bar by the band stand. sat down and started looking at the drink menu. mgr came over and asked if I didnt have anyone else with me, then I couldnt sit there. explained I was there to see my sons band, but at that moment I didnt have anyone with me. my son and his freinds were on there way in. He told me I couldnt sit there as they were "busy". When I asked if he wanted me to leave, he said yes. Crap, I was hungry and would have filled all those tables and been buy drinks and food for the band the entire nite.
