As soon as I walked in, I felt the small town restaurant feel. They welcomed me as soon as I entered. There was only 1 other table of 2 people, already eating their food. The place was really really cold specially the bathrooms. It was only 36 degrees out and I believe it was about 60 inside. Not very comfortable for patrons. My table had crumbs all over it and the dining area had a strong smell of diluted Pine Sol. It wasn't very appetizing. I ordered coffee which was a very watered down, run of the mill, cheap diner coffee. I got the breakfast burrito and what I thought was a side of "coffee cake" as it was called on the menu but it ended up being pancakes??! Wouldn't have thought that lol. The syrup dispenser was really yucky looking and definitely needed a good cleaning. The burrito hit the spot except for the role that Chef Mike (aka Microwave) played in cooking it,it would have been AMAZING! You can tell when something has been blasted to smithereens in the microwave. Sadly, a lot of places use it in place of an oven to reheat & melt cheese. That's exactly what happened. The cheese from the sides of the burrito were burnt to the plate and the tortilla was rubbery from the microwave blast. Would have rather had the cheese naturally melted from heat from burrito. The hasbrowns that wasn't microwaved were DELICIOUS! Prices were reasonable. I can see why people love it but please leave Chef Mike out of it. Had to wait sooo long to be able to even take a bite of the food without hurting myself. Staff was very polite and quick. Would definitely return and try other foods with my family. I just love reviewing...
Read moreWhen I came to write my review, I was shocked at the number of positive reviews. I, very often, write positive reviews and rarely negative ones. So, the experience has to be especially poor to warrant a negative review. Normally, I let a negative experience slide and never return.
Today was a game changer. Before I speak negatively, I do have to compliment the waitstaff. They were kind, courteous, and attentive; tipped accordingly. They are 5 stars.
The rest of the experience was less than 5 star.
We waited 1 hour for simple breakfast meal items... things like eggs, bacon, and toast.
When the food finally arrived it was lukewarm at best.
One member of my party had the breakfast quesadilla. It was soggy - soaked through with grease.
The hash-browns tasted as if they were cooked in the previous day’s oil.
To top off the experience, when the bill arrived, it totaled 42 bucks for breakfast (after tip). Ouch! Insult to insult.
Ironically, the restaurant next door... that literally shares a wall with this place, makes for a delightful breakfast.
I’m a proponent of local, small businesses, and I really wanted to give them a positive review. McKinley’s just...
Read moreFood was good but service was not. Waitress was very short with us, no personality what so ever. Took our order, brought it to the table and didn't ask if we needed anything else and my coffee cup was completely empty. If I didn't say thank you, she would have just walked away. We were almost done eating by the time she refilled the coffee and thats after I set the cup at the edge of the table for 10 minutes. She was too busy talking to another table about her gerbils. She filled the coffee, said "how's the food?" And walked away. A few minutes later she brought the bill, put it on the table without saying a word and walked away. No, we didn't need anything else. Thanks for asking. Another very nice waitress came up and asked if we needed more coffee, asked if we needed a receipt for our bill, came back and told us to have a really nice day. Wish we could have given her the...
