This was our first time at the Marysville Texas Roadhouse, it is my husbandâs birthday so we decided to try. There was a 15-20 minute wait, not unreasonable for dinner. There were quite a few open tables but I imagine they were short staffed, sadly, an issue everywhere.
Our friends arrived ahead of us and agreed to sit in the bar area. I had no problem with the bar area or the booth; I sat on the inside against the half wall. It was a nice, clean open area. Then, it started⌠As each server went past into the kitchen, they HURLED their tray stand onto the waiting rack on the other side of the half wall with a BAM - over and over and over. I completely understand, they are working, time is money, trying to get their tables served, their orders in and their food out of the kitchen to waiting patrons is not an easy job.
As I explained to the GM, for the full effect which I showed the GM, take your hand and SLAM it onto a solid table, preferably wood; imagine if you will, that impact from the side, scaring the crud out of me with each unexpected impact. It made for a âsuperâ relaxing evening with friends.
As for the dinner, I ordered the grilled chicken salad - romaine lettuce instead of âgreensâ and a sweet tea. My husband ordered a ribeye with onions and mushrooms, side of mashed potatoes and a Ceasar salad with a Diet Coke. The server kept our drinks filled, which is always a good thing.
My husband said the steak with onions & mushrooms was very good; the mushrooms were not overcooked, apparently a potential issue for mushrooms. Not my thing but I will take his word for it and pass it on to his fellow mushroom lovers in the audience.
My salad was bland. The honey mustard dressing tasted heavily mayonnaised with no depth or mustard tang. I ordered the romaine lettuce specifically because I do not like spring mix or leafy greens - which I did explain to the server. So, when my salad arrived, it was all the tops of the romaine head; heavy, dark-green and leafy - no romaine hearts for this salad (same with my husbandâs Ceasar salad - all dark green leafy tops) which is the part I throw out to the bunnies. Some pieces of chicken were very moist and some were dried out; but, more moist than dry. There was no onion in the salad, I found that odd. Maybe they use them all for the blooming onion đ¤ˇââď¸
The server gave us our bills and the GM came over checking on how our meal was⌠(see table âslamâ referenced above). The response from the GM, to the patron who was in her restaurant for the first time, was âyeah, Iâm sorry, it is loud - next time just ask not to sit thereâŚ. really no other place to put the tray standsâ
I can say, I deliberately do not make negative comments or give feedback until after my bill is paid; I do not want comps, free food or special considerations⌠I just wanted them to know that was really loud and disturbing as I am trying to enjoy my dinner but obviously, in her opinion, it was my fault for sitting there and not knowing it would happen.
The âtown crierâ made the announcement of my husbandâs birthday with his fellow coworkers. They were all friendly and interacted, wishing him a happy birthday.
Since I am expected to know where I should sit to avoid the issue of their poor tray storage, I think I shall choose to sit somewhere other than Marysvilleâs...
Read moreIt wasn't a horrible experience, just weird. We ordered the kids cheeseburger meal for my 2 year old well ahead of the meals for the adults. 15 mins later they brought out her food and all seemed good. However, as soon as she took a bite you could tell the burger was raw. Not just undercooked...like blue...raw. Our waitress was very nice and immediately apologized and said she'd have it remade. We waited probably 10 mins for them to bring it back out and nothing. The waitress came back and apologized and said she had heard the manager tell the kitchen staff the wait was getting too long for a refire and assured us we'd have the food soon. 10-15 more mins go by and still nothing. Finally, they bring the cheeseburgers along with the food for the rest of the table. Burgers looked fine, but myself and another guest got the prime rib which they served with maybe a teaspoon of au jus. I requested more au jus from our waitress and she went to get it and then disappeared for ten mins before coming back to our table apologizing profusely telling us she had asked the kitchen for it 3 times and they just weren't giving it to her. So we ate our food without it and got the bill. I noticed they didn't take the kids meal off our bill so I brought it up to our waitress who said she would go talk to her manager. The manager walked over and said she "didn't really know what had gone on but wanted to apologize". I can see her holding a free entree coupon in her hand. I tell her "Hey, you guys are busy not the end of the world as long as you take the kids meal off the bill that's fine". As soon as I said that, the manager literally looks at me, folds the coupon in half in her hand and then slips it into her pocket like I wouldn't notice and just walks away. Granted, I did say we were fine if they just took the kids meal off the bill and they did (after we complained)...but to come to the table with a coupon in her hand and then slyly try and conceal the coupon before slipping it into her pocket was a weird flex. Never even apologized for not bringing out the au jus. đ Don't think I've ever had an encounter with a manager at a restaurant like that before. It wasn't that she was rude, just didn't really seem like she cared that our two year old was served raw hamburger and had to wait 45 mins to an hour to eat. Just a very weird customer service approach. Our waitress was...
Read moreThe absolute worse experience I have ever had with a TRH. We love TRH and was super excited when they built one closer to home. It has only been open a month, and I understand that. But, we did call ahead seating, which worked great, table ready at the quoted time, 8:30pm. We sit,(server has 1 other table) wait for rolls, get drinks, minus 1 water. Wait, wait wait. 5 minutes we get rolls. No biggie Appetizers arrive, blooming onion, half burnt, pickles perfect. Wait, wait. Water glass dumps. Ask for more rolls, Loose one persons water. wait. Wait, wait, wait, watch server sit at another booth with a coworker while the "fill the salt pepper etc." 15 minutes later, stops at table, 910pm, ask for more rolls, and water refill, beer refill and kids lemonade. Other table leaves. Leaves comes back with beer, asks if someone else brought water and lemonade back, says no rolls. Brings lemonade and water, states that ovens are off and there are no more rolls, the turn them off at 9pm. I state, we asked for more before 9pm. Wait, wait, wait. Food comes at 945, steaks cold!!! I mean barely even warm enough to think they were cooked, and not just 1 steak, all 5 of our steaks were cold. The prime ribs were served with no au jus sauce, which made it less juicy than it should be. Potatoes were very hot. Tell server, say she can take them back to get warmer, I state not waiting for that it's already late. Comes back and states she is getting a discount in the check. We have 3 bills, one check gets the discount. I wouldn't have even been so upset if it weren't for the server literally sitting and just chatting it up while we waited for items that were requested. And she wasn't the only server that we witnessed doing this. Mind you, the manager was seen once the entire time we were there. Which was obvious with the way the staff acted. Also, server stated that the smell of "TRH chili made her want to vomit!" Yummy! It will be a while before we will give this location...
