Had it couple years ago and did NOT like it. Thought i would give it another go with my kids who were curious to try them. I warned them but we made a little over a 1 hour trip to the Castle. My daughter got the pulled pork and said she enjoyed it and the fries. I took the first bite of my 1921 special with lettuce and tomato..INSTANT feeling of stomach wanting to refuse what I was forcing upon it. Let's start with the texture..that alone was an issue as the meat there looks really odd to me..like hamburger in baloney form...but my mind and jaw were both in agreement that I should not persist but I do not waste food so I kept at it. On to the flavor. Somehow it had the flavor of (hear me out) the flavor of the scent of a bunch of rubber bands mixed with the scent of a cow pasture all neatly wrapped up in an adorable Lil patty. My jaw literally quivered to power through this..At that point my son who was taking a bite of his cheese slider locked eyes with me and I could tell..he was in the same boat of rowing upstream in a white rapids scenario with only 1 oar. We laughed so hard at that moment I could not stop. Mind you this meal was little over $27 and I COULD NOT bring myself to continue. My son and I exchanged bites to see if our minds might change and he also agreed mine was soooo much worse. Lettuce was dry, tomato was hard and flavorless( we counted that blessing) but It had to be the combo of all three that took me to the rubber band pasture. Let me be the first to say I do know, but we may stand alone in this review as they seem to have quite the cult following. I did take the time to stick around to watch the next victi...I mean patron get their meal and waited to see their expression when they take a bite. They had no expression which let me know it was too late for them..they were already in the cult. I know for sure..it was the last time I eat there. Not out of anger..just wasn't our thing. I literally was worried it would come back up if I attempted to finish the other one. With that said..My nightly raccoon and opossum will love me..( or ill never see them again) im gonna chalk it up as something Ill never understand. Ill close with this. With all the laughter of the confusion of why people eat there..our stomachs hurt from the laughter so we will chalk it up as a great time while...
Read moreI don’t like reviewing fast food restaurants, but… White Castle is an iconic, regional chain from Columbus, Ohio, that is very unique among hamburger joints. It is one of the original fast food restaurants in the US, and has withstood the test of time.
They are a bit greasy, but that is a part of their appeal. I especially enjoy their Double Jalapeño Cheeseburger, with extra onions and pickles. But be careful, these things expand inside you… Four of these at midnight will cause your bedroom to smell like a White Castle kitchen by 6:00 am. And, the aromatic effluence will continue into your evening; and your spouse and coworkers will shun and shame you for your gastronomical indiscretions.
The same urge that drives a dog to roll around in something stinky is the same instinct I have whenever I drive by a White Castle… I cannot help myself, as I reflexively turn into the drive through and indulge myself in this dirty little pleasure… Trust me, you’ll hate yourself in the morning, but it’s worth the searing...
Read moreI am not typically one to leave a bad review but this place deserves one. I had placed my order 30 mins. Before my arrival, then had to wait another 15 minutes for my order, witch wasn't even made right, causing me to be late for work. The burgers I was given were still red and cold in the middle. I do not understand how such a thin patty can be cooked so poorly. There were individuals behind the counter not in uniform, a grill operator was not wearing a hat or even a hair net. The employees were moving slow as molasses. This location did not present a clean/sanitary environment. This location does not present a good look for white castle as a company. Serious changes need made if they do wish for a good image for white castle, including retraining the staff on proper...
