I have worked in the restaurant industry now for 7 years. The restaurant business is a very demanding job, some work tirelessly for hours to deal with all different walks of life to put food on the tables for their loved ones. Putting in years of hard work and dedication while building a clientele that will keep coming back for you is what turns a simple serving gig into a career, that really takes a special hearted person to handle. So imagine my surprise when I came to my local LaRosa’s pizzeria to have my usual Monday night spaghetti dinner to request to be seated in a specific servers section and CAN NOT be seated there because apparently servers are no longer allowed to accept requests. Servers are only allowed to take tables that come in rotation effective under new management. I understand if a server has a full section and there aren’t any tables available. However, when a server has multiple tables open towards the end of the evening and guests CAN NOT request those tables is absurd! I have been coming to Mason LaRosa’s since I can remember, and having met Missy, I have come to sit in her section every week for the last 4 years. To deny tables to servers that are requested by guests is astronomically cruel and appalling. I will not be going back as I suppose many other regulars who go here for Missy will not either. Mason LaRosa’s has been a long established business that relies majorly on returning loyal customers. Most of these customers return because of long standing staff that have impacted their lives bigger than just the food on the table. It’s sad to see that people in the industry, turning the gig into a career, are negatively being impacted financially because of poor management decisions.
UPDATE Management did change their policy for staff to receive tables by request. However, still disappointed that it ever came to that in the first place. If you do go to LaRosa’s, ask for Missy. She is absolutely the best and the only reason I used to be a loyal customer...
Read moreMy family has been eating at LaRosa's since before I was born. We love this Cincinnati staple, but have never been to this location before.
Our server was slow to respond, slow to move and completely unable to understand any request. After the painful process of ordering (during which she refused to speak with anyone at the table but me) we settled in for our food.
My iced tea was in reality slightly brown ice water. This was disappointing, but considering how many times I had to try to explain "unsweetened" I just accepted it.
Our pizzas, however, were dry and difficult to accept. There was barely any sauce on any of our four pizzas. We brought this to the attention of our server, who refused to look at the dry, sauceless piece I was showing her. "I think they put on too much sauce" she replied before shambling off.
I brought the issue up to another server. She also refused to look. She pointed vaguely at our table and said "There's sauce". Then she walked away.
We paid for our meal and left. Regretfully, we took our many leftovers with us. No one wanted those leftovers, though, and they ended up in the trash two days later.
When we got home we cooked up a frozen pizza. It was pretty tasty, but that's a...
Read moreSaturday, May 27, 2023. Showed up at LaRosa's Mason for dinner at 7:57pm. We were greeted by a sign on the door that said their dining room was closing at 8pm. This is our third bad experience in a row. We won't return for a fourth. Whomever it is that owns this store is either not paying attention or just doesn't care. SMH.
So tonight, May 11, 2023, we visited LaRosa's Mason. No complaints about the food or service. I do have a complaint about the atmosphere however. I am in an Italian restaurant in the suburbs. Every patron in the place is middle-aged and white, me included. The music they are playing is hip-hop. I finished my meal well before my wife finished hers. This almost never happens. She commented that I must have been hungry. I replied, "not particularly. The music is making me want to leave ASAP". The next time we consider coming here we will call beforehand and see what music is playing in the background when the...
