No. 1 Kitchen — Restaurant in Massillon

I’ve been going to the same Chinese place for years and was ready for a change. I was at a friends house in New Franklin and she ordered Chinese for me at No. 1 Kitchen. It was really good so I decided to try it in my town. I ordered Shrimp curry with onion and vegetables with white rice, egg rolls and crab rangoon. First, an egg roll. So fresh and delicious. No old oil taste or risking breaking a tooth on it. Then the crab rangoon. I couldn’t believe how light and crisp and fresh they were. The crab filling is slightly sweet as it should be. I mean, really? Freakin fantastic. Now on to the curry. It tastes just as wonderful as it looks. The shrimp were huge. The flavor was amazing. Spicy spicy. Lol. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal. And on Christmas Eve! The woman who answered the phone was so nice and had a very pleasant voice. Walked in to order grabbed a menu and ordered the pepper steak and tomato, they then said they don't have that (after they already charged me for it). That is what I had in mind before I even got there as I try it from every Chinese restaurant that offers it on their menu. Keep in mind this is only my second time ordering from this particular restaurant. They had two younger caucasian girls working as helpers or something but neither had a clue. Plus they had 3-4 little kids running around in there but that seems pretty common. Overall i was not very impressed with my experience at this restaurant. I know my food and have been to many Chinese restaurants so I'd like to think i know a thing or two. I would not recommend this restaurant, which is a shame because the other two Chinese restaurants in Massillon are getting worse by the day it seems. Not sure how this place has so many high reviews… Tried it with my boyfriend over the weekend and it was AWFUL! We wanted to try it since it had such high reviews, but were extremely disappointed. The fried rice tasted like chemicals, the shrimp was bland, the crab rangoons tasted like pure sugar(?), and my chicken was completely rubbery. I’m not sure if it was a bad day in the kitchen or what, but NEVER again. It was $40 worth of food gone to waste because it was so awful. Not to mention the girl running the front who got an attitude when we asked for napkins/silverware… with the napkins given to us being used already (yuck!).
