We had a fantastic evening dining at this restaurant—every part of the meal was thoughtfully prepared and flavorful.

To start, we ordered a White Russian, which was perfectly mixed—creamy, smooth, and just strong enough to sip slowly and enjoy. It set a relaxing tone for the night.

For food, we went with two sushi rolls: the Paradise Roll and the Sexy City. The Paradise Roll was light, fresh, and beautifully balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and texture. The Sexy City roll was a complete contrast—in a good way! It was bold, spicy, and packed with flavor, making it a great pairing with the more delicate roll.

We also had both the Miso Soup and the Hot & Sour Soup, and each brought its own kind of comfort. The miso was classic—warm, savory, and filled with tofu and seaweed. The hot & sour soup had just the right balance of spice and tang, warming and satisfying.

To finish, we enjoyed an Appletini, which was crisp, slightly tart, and a perfect way to wrap up the meal with something a little fun.

The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed but stylish. Whether you're here for sushi, cocktails, or something cozy, this place delivers. We'll...

Upon arriving to the place there is plenty of parking, which was great! The outside doesn’t do the inside justice, very nicely organized and clean establishment with beautiful inside decor.

We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly and took care of us a party of 4.

I ordered the yakitori as a starter , it was delicious and tasty, perfectly grilled. It came with a peanut butter sauce which was really good , just not what I personally like so I swapped it for spicy mayo which was also delicious and had a nice kick.

I started off with a drink and got an old fashion, it was tasty and strong! Just how I like it!

I also had a seaweed salad which was perfectly seasoned.

I then ordered two specialty roles the hot night and the ocean king (I swapped the mango for cream cheese).

Both rolls were huge and I can say this is the best sushi I have ever had! You can taste the flavors were fresh and so were the ingredients!

For dessert we had the vanilla, strawberry and green tea mochis which are all a must try!

Will be a...

3rd and last time ordering here. Picked up food on Tuesday, the 4th of July, for dinner Sushi rolls , sashimi & appetizer. Right away food had a fishy smell when I opened it up. First bite of sashimi I get fish bone stuck in my throat ( still don't k ow if I swalled it or scratch my throat as I have weird feeling all day ) should have known that sashimi comes bone in at this place, didn't say on menu. Fine , next was roll with scallops extremely fishy smells didn't even eat one, threw it in trash. Next was the eel avocado roll and exactly the same. we ate 2, and that was it . I was previously disappointed on my other take out orders from this place, but I said fine it happens, well 3rd time was a charm . Ended up throwing most food out and eating salad . management: If you didn't get get fresh fish in, maybe tell your customers that it's not available rather than serving someone food poisoning and...

This review is for the Japanese dinners and not the sushi. I never had the sushi here so I can't review it. I've done takeout here lots of times, and I've dined inside twice so far. My go to dinners are the hibachi chicken and the chicken teriyaki. Both are very good! The fried rice here is delicious too! One time I did the salmon hibachi here, and I found the salmon to taste odd. I don't recommend order salmon here! The vegetables that come with the entrees are always fresh and crisp. The hibachi and teriyaki dinners here are far better than Ganga which is down the road. One thing I didn't like today is I ordered one coffee and had one refill on it. The lady charged me $8! A second cup is usually complimentary at restaurants. The coffee wasn't that special for 2 small cups of it to come to $8! Overall, I've always enjoyed the food here. I recommend dining at Ginkako Japanese Bistro in Matawan!
