Stewart's Root Beer of Matawan — Restaurant in Matawan

Got there 6:15 was the 3rd of eventually 5 tables outside there were probably another 4 vehicles there already the waitress which there were two working tonight immediately came over took our drinking order and then delivered the drinks very quickly and then took our order. about 6:45 it got very cold we were still waiting we decided to go inside (very dirty in the inside) about 10 minutes into waiting inside I got up to say we wanted to leave because we've been waiting and the concern was no food had come out to any customer in well over 25 minutes . I get that everyone's going to say we're short-handed but no food was coming out almost the entire time everybody was waiting everybody was complaining they were uber eats drivers coming they were told it's another half-hour wait and not only wasn't it very busy there was just no food coming out to anyone almost like there was nobody in the kitchen. we went to our car waited another 10 minutes and finally left it's usually a pretty good food although it is not very desirable to dine in. Probably going to be a long time before I go there...

First you should know that this place is opened seasonally, so it's closed during winter months. Now, my experience here: I decided to check the place out and have a quick lunch. It's a tiny place with counter seating and also some outside seating. I ordered a Turkey Burger with sweet potatoe fries. Judging by the food quality it wasn't particularly good. Well it was ok, but no more than that. It feels like (and I'm sure is) frozen burgers and friends. The bun was so tiny and thin it wasn't really there. It's basically a typical budget eatery. But that's the thing. For the same price, you have two incredibly good diners 2 minutes away, with bigger portions and much better food, for exactly the same price. We love the Stewart’s in Rahway, we moved here and wanted to check out a fav spot. This does not measure up to Rahway. The service was oddly slow. There were 2 servers, then one just went in the back and the poor guy was by himself. The food took forever to come out. Unlike Rahway, the burgers are frozen thick Patties. The hot dogs are different and they’re on some weird brioche bread that gets soggy. We got soda, the glass was frozen but it doesn’t stay frozen and the young kid didn’t put ice in it.
