La Madona Italian Cuisine and Pizzeria — Restaurant in Matawan

We have been regulars at this place for years. Unfortunately we won’t be back. We placed a delivery order at 6:30. By 7:30 no food had arrived. We called and were advised our order should be there in 20 minutes. 7:50, still nothing. Called again and we were told he’d be there any minute. At 8pm we got our food and everything was cold. Salad had wilted. We called them again and told them and we were told a delivery driver had an accident and they were short staffed. Understandable. We asked for a credit as some of the food was inedible, we were told they couldn’t authorize but they could remake the food and would have the order ready for us in 30 minutes as long as we returned the food. We arrived at 8:35 pm and was told they hadn’t remade the order. We asked for a refund and they said they couldn’t authorize as the boss wasn’t in. After they took our food in the back, they gave us the same reheated food. Over cooked pasta in buckets of sauce, to the point it leaked through the bags and all over our car and countertop. Served the exact same chicken order as it was still cold. Idk it’s really sad to be treated so poorly by a local restaurant that I’ve continually supported. We will not...

Been a few times last few months since the holidays. Good food, decent portions. Nice small cozy atmosphere. Linen napkins on the tables show your striving to be better then pizzeria in my opinion. The head waitress is really bad, she took our order and that was nearly the last we saw of her. Ordered four salads, she came to the table with no tray to serve them nestling them between her arm and shirt nearly under her armpit. If it wasn't for an attentive bus boy we would still be waiting for grated- cheese and more bread. When she did come back with the soups, which I compliment are very good, she could only bring two at a time because they were hot and she doesn't know how to utilize a serving tray. all four soup served with the soup spoon already in the soup bowl. I am very disappointed the older staff not being in touch with basic restaurant table service and sanitary precautions. If was a young kid learning his or her way around the service industry I would be more understanding. This is just a case laziness and incompetents. Oh and she chews gum like a cow the whole time. This is the second time, I had an issue with this place. This time is the last time. I placed a catering order from a menu on the web site which you can see below Package 1 for $235. My Credit card was charged $389. I called and spoke with the owner Tony , who I sent a picture and Video ( to one of his employees) to show him the price, and asked why I was charges $389, Tony replied this was an old menu from 4 years ago, that google has not taking down. Very poor excuse for an owner, I asked him if he was going to honor this, and he said no. I will never again go his Pizzeria/Restaurant or bagel store at 334 Main street in Matawan or his bagel store , right across the street. I'm sure many people were scammed by this false advertisement. I work for a company, that first of all would honor this, and when I asked my boss about contacting google, he said it certainly does not take 4 years to take something down. You lost at least 3 customers for your actions, and maybe more, which was not my intentions. All I wanted was for him to do the...
