ate here with my 6yo daughter 4/19/2017. i last ate here about 20 years ago and remembered it to be your average greek-american restaurant, but was sadly disappointed. the decor is improved, but the service and food were very weak.
Service: the waitress was not personable whatsoever - my daughter joked about how she's a grownup, waitress dryly replies to me "kids menu is 12 and under." - she brings us our food, says nothing other than "what else do you want?". she never once addressed my daughter directly, and i'm not sure she ever looked me in the face. it felt very odd - i sensed no anger from her, just a sense of sadness or dejection. the only smile we saw on her face was a quick and forced one as she handed us our tab. it was pretty depressing, actually.
Food: my daughter ordered the spaghetti but refused to eat it. i thought she was having a picky moment, but i tasted it and had an odd citrus flavor - maybe a greek thing? my portion of cod was on the small side (three skinny pieces), potato was decent, fried okra was mushy and a litle warm. i imagine it was made much earlier in the day (or before, and reheated). nothing was particularly flavorful, but it was cheap at least.
bottom line for me is that there are at least a hundred other greek-american restaurants in the area with the same menu, all with better service than my experience this visit. it may be worth noting that we were the youngest people there by a wide margin (save for some children there with grandparents). not that that is a big deal of course, but as the restaurant's clientele ages, i would suggest the restaurant address these concerns if they wish to gain new and...
Read moreWorking from out of town and found this place less than an eighth of a mile from my hotel. Walked in and was hit by a wall of yummy. Wow.
Ordered a Greek omelette and french toast and coffee and bill came to just about $10. I cleaned my plate like it was my last meal it was so good.
I mean really good. Omelette wasn't over done with feta, nice very light brown texture and the home fries were tasty. Rye toast was nice and the French toast made me want to call my mom and tell her to step up her game.
Waitstaff are just the nicest people, they know a lot of folks by name here. Super cozy. They will bring you as much coffee as you want, just let them know to keep it hot. I haven't had less than a half cup since I sat down 45 min ago.
Not a ton of traffic, but busy. No wait time at all.
I'll be here about another week and I have a feeling I'll be here every morning.
UPDATE:
Came in today on 10/20, ordered the Americana, you can see it's a pretty big meal...
Read moreOur waitress was great she was very attentive. I was disappointed at the size of the jumbo shrimp that were no where near the average jumbo size. I get shrimp shrinks when cooked but again they were the size of small shrimp when they came out. The picture I posted is on zoom in. While we were eating the young lady who was bussing tables came over and took the plates off our table without even asking if we were done. Which I was but my husband wasn't. At that point we decided to leave before we got upset. The food portion was decent for the price. The taste of the food was decent as well. That was out first time going there and was hoping for a good experience so we would have a place close to home to drop in but it wasn't what we had hoped for when it came to certain things. Doubt if we will go back but the staff was very friendly which is why I gave it 3 stars. It has great...
