Today was our 3rd time eating there in the past 3 years; each time we try, but it's just not worth it. Soon as we came in the door, I greeted the cashier, twice, with no response, since she was clearly busy on a personal earbud call. She was very polite when she did respond, but had to ask menu questions repeatedly, as she was busy phoning. What made me want to not continue the process, is that the tzatziki sauce was being prepared and portioned into little cups RIGHT BESIDE THE REGISTER, IN A TABLE BUSING PAN, WITH NO LINER, WITH THE FRONT DOOR OPENING AS CUSTOMERS CAME IN, WITH CUSTOMERS WALKING UP TO IT TO ORDER FOOD. We did eat(not the tzatziki), my sons gyro was good. My wife did not like the chicken kabob. I tasted it, the chicken was woody; I tried several different pieces, each one was the same unappetizing texture. Overall, restaurant clean enough, service was courteous when not lacking, chicken could be acquired from a better source, food prep could be more sanitary, the other foods were good. All these things can be improved upon. We may try again in about a year. I would rather pay $50 for food i know is good, than $20 for the same food that...
Read moreI recently stopped by Greco Fresh Grille in Matthews, NC and had a wonderful dining experience. The lady with black hair who took our order was absolutely delightful - she was friendly, efficient, and got us in and out quickly and as well the manager was funny and very polite. We were impressed by her hospitality and service. But the real star of the show was the food! I ordered the Lamb Gyro and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, and the portion was generous to say the least. My companion's dish was also a hit, with a generous helping of Hercules Pita. We were both impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail that went into preparing our meals. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also pleasant, with a cozy and modern vibe that made for a comfortable dining experience. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with Greco Fresh Grille and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying meal in Matthews. The friendly service, fresh ingredients, and generous portions make it a standout in our books....
Read moreThe staff were friendly and the store was clean. The traditional gyro was good, but that was literally the only truly good thing we had there; the lamb meat and the pita bread they use were spot on. However, the falafels (appetizer) were bland, the Loukoumades were tasteless fried dough even after adding more honey to then at home (sort of like a plain unglazed doughnut), the plain fries were super salty, and the "lemon oregano" fries were super bitter from the copious amounts of dried oregano they used, yet with almost no discernable lemon flavor. And the taziki was really bland. I've whipped up better taziki at home. I don't understand how a Greek place that serves taziki with almost every dish could have bland taziki.
I would be willing to try them one more time though, and just skip those things and try some other options instead. It's been hard to find a good gyro place...
