I don't often stop to write reviews these days, but Keyakiya deserves five-star status for the quality of their food. As someone who has lived (and eaten well) in Japan, I can honestly say that this is among the absolute best Japanese cuisine I've been fortunate enough to find on Maui over the past decade! Don't let the food truck's humble exterior fool you -- Yoshie and Yasu-san are infusing some serious love, awareness and aloha into their culinary creations...
Oh and if you're not sure where to start on the menu, get the Keyakiya Chicken...
Read moreToday we ordered the keiyakiya chicken, which is their twist on the mochiko chicken, the karaage chicken plate, and the typhoon fries. The food was absolutely amazing, the karaage chicken tasted just like it would in Japan! They even have hijiki salad (black seaweed) in the plate and it brought me back to my time in Japan. There's only one other place in the U.S. that I know of that makes Katsu curry as excellent as this. My only regret was not coming back. It's worth an hour drive across the island.
