Waikomo Shave Ice in Paia, Hawaii is a true gem that combines the spirit of Aloha with delicious, all-natural shave ice ingredients. Thomas, the owner, and his team have truly created a wonderful experience for all who visit.
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for their commitment to offering healthy options for shave ice. As a parent, it's important to find treats that are both tasty and nutritious for our Keiki's, and Waikomo Shave Ice delivers just that. Their all-natural syrups and ingredients are a refreshing change and a guilt-free indulgence.
The new location in Paia town, right on HÄna Hwy Makai side, is a must-visit. While parking is limited up front, there is a convenient parking lot across the street. Trust me, it's worth the trip regardless of how you get there!
The ambiance at Waikomo Shave Ice is cozy and inviting, with ample outdoor seating on the deck. You can enjoy your shave ice under the shade of beautiful trees while feeling the cool ocean breeze. It's the perfect setting to savor your icy treat.
Speaking of treats, my personal favorite is the Coco Loco with Mac Nut ice cream and shave ice on top. The combination of lilikoi (passion fruit) and coconut flavors as toppings, along with the heavenly coconut cream drizzled on top with a touch of honey, is simply divine. It's a flavor explosion that will leave you wanting more!
I can confidently say that Waikomo Shave Ice is our go-to spot for a delightful shave ice experience. The dedication to quality, the fantastic flavors, and the warm hospitality from Thomas and his team make it an exceptional choice for families and anyone craving a taste of Hawaii.
Mahalo nui loa, Thomas and the entire team, for creating such a fantastic shave ice destination. We'll be back for more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith this being our second time visiting Maui, we had a game plan for a lot of things, but maybe most importantly was finding the best shave ice on the island. While we did not have any bad experiences one was clearly the best, by far. Waikomo Shave Ice was the best in freshness, texture of the shave, the toppings and all natural. Everything we tried there was beyond fresh. Nothing artificial about it. There was no āsugarā flavor, the syrups tasted like they just squeezed a fruit right into the ice. So clean and refreshing all while being just the right sweetness. The location vibe was amazing with a little āhidden gemā feel to it. The owner was top notch through and through. Because some businesses on the island have hours that fluctuate from what Google has posted, we called ahead to see what their hours were for our last day on the island. Our last day on the island was on a Monday, which we soon realized was the only day they are closed but the owner, Thomas, was willing to make our last day in this special place, end on the highest note possible! He opened up special for us and served us the best treat one could ask for before a 13 hour flight back to reality. Cannot sing the praises enough of Thomas, his products and his attitude of Aloha....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is a bit hard to find. We were in Paia and didnāt discover it until the second time we were there. Itās hidden behind a house.
The location is quaint, and the service was excellent. It was a bit pricier than the other shave ice I had on Maui, but it includes coconut cream sauce, fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey. Thatās on top of the natural fruit syrups.
I saw they had blueberry, which I hadnāt seen yet, at least not with the natural flavors. I also asked about the calamansi flavor, which the server described as a cross between a lime and an orange. That was something new for me as well.
The blueberry was very good, but the calamansi did overpower it. However, that citrus flavor was outstanding. I would highly recommend it, perhaps with another stronger flavor. Blueberry might pair well with something like coconut, which I didnāt have.
If youāre in Paia and looking for a great dessert or a little snack, stop here. The only downside is the limited hours from noon until 5:00 or so.
As a side note, we parked in the public parking lot on the southwest side of town and walked across the street...
