Having both worked for Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Jupiter, Florida, and visited many others for dinner, my bar was held high prior to visiting this location for my birthday in July. Upon entering the restaurant, my partner and I were immediately greeted with a warm reception and seated promptly in the bar/lounge area of the restaurant. I found the decor classy, upscale, and modern. Shortly after, the experience went downhill from there.
Our server was professional, warm, but lacking the upscale server experience that I've always encountered at Ruth's Chris. Our wait time from being seated to being served our drinks was a bit lengthy considering the bar area was only about 20 to 30 percent capacity. I ordered an ice tea and when our meals were delivered, ordered a glass of wine. That glass of wine took a long 15 minutes to be delivered. Our appetizer, the spicy shrimp, was delicious, and portion size, perfect for two. We also ordered the chop salad to share and found the portion size on the smaller side from what I remembered, and although very good, was not as delicious as I remembered it being from my past experiences at other locations.
For our entrees, we ordered the filet and ribeye. The filet was cooked perfectly and flavor and tenderness were out of this world. My ribeye was overcooked, however, and when the manager saw what was supposed to be medium-rare, actually well done, he immediately retrieved it, and within minutes, I had a perfectly cooked ribeye at my table. This steak, however, was missing the savoury and so important, char on the exterior. Flavor and tenderness were both excellent. Ribeye is my favorite steak due to the hight amount of marbelized, succulent fat throughout. Love the flavor it gives to the steak. This steak, however, had a few large tendony, grizzly sections that I've not experienced before with a Ribeye at a Ruth's Chris and had to be cut around. We also ordered the potatoes Au gratin for our side, and that was disappointingly underseasoned and flavourless. Worse yet, it was so dry. The potatoes were dry and pasty, so quite possibly absorbed much of the moisture from what was supposed to be a creamy gratin sauce. I always order the potatoes augratin when I eat at Ruth's Chris, and they are always creamy, rich, perfectly seasoned and topped with a good portion of cheddar cheese. Not the case this time.
We didn't order dessert because at this point, just wanted to head out and end the experience. I understand every establishment, employee, etc, is entitled to a bad day, however, for the money we spent, the hour-plus drive to the restaurant, and the fact that it was my birthday, I was really hoping for a...
Read moreZero stars. Came into tonight excited for first night out in forever. As soon as I was greeted at the door I was asked if it was ok to take off my baseball cap which I wore, unknowing of the rules. I politely said I'd prefer not to, as I suffer from anxiety and depression and it's my crutch. They sat us at a table, only again to come over and ask us to sit at the bar. I wasn't allowed to sit at an actual table if I didn't remove my hat. Again I asked if it was ok and to please make an exception. They said no. Thank you for ruining my night out finally after suffering thru Covid and the loss of a family member. I totally felt embarrassed and also felt alienated for having anxiety even more over wearing a baseball cap. So disappointed.
I see this "headgear" rule has affected more than a few who have tried to just come and eat. Customer Service replied "we try to make our guests feel comfortable and welcome"... then why would you ask me to sit at a bar 5 feet away from where I was comfortable in order to make your other guests feel comfortable? Reminds me of having a "colored" section and forcing those who make others feel "uncomfortable" to sit elsewhere.
Change your rules, you're just a restaurant. I'm sure there would have been zero people who had a problem with a person wearing a hat enjoying a steak.
You've managed to make a ton of people feel uncomfortable, which is tragic because we live in a society where we are always judged by someone else's "rules"....
A hat doesn't make people feel uncomfortable, but your staff tonight managed to make me feel that way.
Congratulations for such terrible "customer" service.
Capitol Grill happily accommodated me, and had the best meal and experience…
Edit to the response from Ruth Chris below.
Your response is cut and paste from many reviews stating the same thing. You didn't address my concern at all. You chose to go the corporate route and reply with a generic response. If you cared at all about making your guests "comfortable", why would you treat new guests this way, and go out of the way to make them feel uncomfortable. No one at the restaurant seemed to care I felt uneasy and wasn't comfortable. They just asked me to leave if I would not remove a hat. Terrible service. Train your...
Read moreMy family snd I just moved to the area, so to celebrate we came here for dinner. My mom & sister have been to the Ruth’s & Chris Steak House in Midtown, which apparently closed down, but this was my first time, and let me tell you for a chain restaurant I wasn’t expecting the food to be this good or the service to be this excellent!
Our waiter, Falgun, was very friendly and attentive! His recommendations were very helpful. The restaurant itself has a very rich ambiance, accentuated with low mood lighting and jazzy music. A great spot for date night or to have an intimate celebration.
For drinks, I asked for a recommendation for something not too sweet, but strong. Falgun, recommended an off menu muddled raspberry cosmo— and it did not disappoint. He definitely knows what he’s talking about.
My mom ordered the prix fixe (which I obviously had to sample). Starting with a very refreshing caeser salad. Plenty of parmesan, it wasn’t dry or drowning in dressing and the lettuce was very crisp. The (medium rare) filet mignon and lobster were cooked to perfection— no rubbery lobster here, thankfully. And she got the creamed spinach as a side. I always get creamed spinach at steak houses, so I’m a bit of a snob, but this one was flawless- not too salty, and perfectly creamy as advertised.
My sister and I ordered an 11oz filet mignon to split which was also cooked faultlessly. The steaks come out on 500 degree hot plates, sizzling in butter and herbs- absolutely delectable. As someone who doesn’t like my meat bleeding I appreciate the option of adding a sear to the meat, with the hot plate, myself.
There was one small downside. The honey & bacon brussels sprouts were quite raw. Brussel sprouts are definitely a tough vegetable to cook, so while they were very flavorful the texture was super off putting. They tasted like they were seared quickly on high heat, when they really needed to be blanched and slow cooked to soften them up.
And to finish dinner off we had the cheesecake which was super creamy and not too sweet. It was a perfect ending to the meal. Will...
