I’ve eaten at El Chilos a few times and haven’t had many issues how ever it is the most expensive Mexican restaurant in town and in my own opinion one of the worst ones we have. I got the Jacob Special large because at any other Mexican restaurant there’s a small portion and a large normally the large is like an adult size and the small is like a kids size. This portion was way too big. It could feed 3 adult people, no wonder it was $18. The chicken was not seasoned at all I don’t even think they used salt or pepper. The rice was extremely soggy from how much queso was sitting at the bottom of this packed tight rice bed. It’s supposed to come with beans and I did not receive any. I also ordered a side of queso and it just tastes bland just like straight melted cheese and nothing else. I will probably not eat there again just from my own experience and opinion it is over priced and bland. I can get charging for your worth but I can go to Jalisco and get the same thing with more flavor, a better portion and literally...
Read moreRarely do I find a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t taste little all the rest, one that truly stands out in taste, service and atmosphere. The staff were amazing and on top of their jobs but never interrupted the conversation. The food was absolutely mind blowing compared to how their competitors here in town I ordered Alambre, a side side of guacamole, and queso. The main course came on the typical fajita skillet however the food was not charred on the bottom it was a consistent texture and flavor from top to bottom. Rarely in this area do I take left overs home because they don’t tend to be good to begin with however this restaurant hit the mark the flavor of my meal was amazing not to much of anything, not a salt shaker of salt thrown in, the guacamole was the best homemade guacamole I have ever had and most importantly everything was made fresh. I will gladly wait for amazing food and I’m glad I did, I highly recommend you find a seat there and make sure to...
Read moreAfter passing this place by on several occasions the wife and I decided to give it a try. We had lunch on a Thursday, which had a fair amount of customers while we were there.
The wait time for our food was very short. If you order an appetizer, have them wait to bring out the meal. We only had about 2 minutes between courses.
The first time I ever eat at a Mexican restaurant I order the same thing, 2 cheese enchiladas and a beef taco. El Chilo's did a great job. The hamburger only appetizer, my meal, and my wife's meal were all great. We both commented that we haven't had a good a meal since we lived in Arizona.
We have eaten at about a half a dozen Mexican food places since we have moved to McAlester and El Chilo's has been the best. We will certainly be back for ourselves and with...
