First Time at Dai Tung Chinese Restaurant and we will definitely be coming back! 😋 #mcallen #edingburgtx #chinese #chinesefood #warwontongsoup

Well, this happened at the Dai Tung on Nolana in McAllen. I ordered this on Sunday and didn’t notice these little guys until all the food was gone! I remember this happened at the Dai Tung in Mission and now it’s happened here. I loved going to the McAllen location because I thought the food quality was better than the other location. Won’t be going back for sure. I spoke to one manager but nothing came out of it; they asked for the pictures but nothing was done. I called this morning to speak to the manager and they said he was working and was “busy”. I said I’d call in 20 min. Decided to go in person and the manager I spoke to was not there. The woman who we spoke to admitted that sometimes the produce can have worms and it ends up in the food. First she said that she would give us a credit for next time; we refused since obviously we are not going to come back. Then she only wanted to refund for one plate; the worms were in all the food! We ordered beef broccoli, shrimp and veggie noodles, two orders of eggrolls, soup, orange chicken and general tso chicken. They refuse to give us a refund for the $80 bucks we spent for worms to be included in our food! In a time where everyone is experiencing financial strain to just exist, the kind/easy thing to do was give us a full refund. They have lost us, our family and friends as customers. For sure will call the health inspector, local new stations, and we will make this as public as possible!

I've been here a few times. Usually, I bring my mom as this is one of the few places that still have Chicken Chow Mein off the menu, but you can request it. We went for lunch right at eleven. The staff were very accommodating, especially since my mother has special needs. It got busy very quickly, which slowed our service as the meal went on, but we never felt ignored. The atmosphere is...dark. Dark but cozy, I guess. I had the crab puffs for an appetizer and the combo Mefan for my main course. The crab puffs were fine. The ends were a little burnt than I liked, and the wrap was thicker than other places, but not bad. It comes served with a side of sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The Mefan was good. For those who don't know, that's ultra thin rice noodles, stir-fried with other ingredients. Think mixed fried rice but replace the rice with noodles. The portion was generous, and overall, I enjoyed it. Dai Tung is still reliable and always worth a stop if your craving table service Chinese instead of the buffet experience. They have lunch specials, but the dish I got was full priced at 14 dollars.

Let’s start or by saying our server was nice. He was busy, but our interactions were short but no complains. The Shrimp Lo Mein is disgusting. It has the salad tiny shrimps. They have absolutely no flavor. The Lo Mein is bland. It’s just edible but not impressive at all. The noodles are also the fattest egg noodles around. They are the Udon noodles. I’ve never liked those in my Lo Mein. The taste is also bland and not exquisite by any means. The chili oil is bad. So bad! It tastes bought or canned, fermented rather than fresh oil with fresh seeds/peppers. Without the right oil, the food has no hope. The chicken soup was a bunch of little strands of weird, different sizes of looking chicken. Some pieces looked darker than others which means they recycle chicken. It was so bad and had no flavor. It wasn’t good chicken soup, and I know quality chicken soup, and that soup is a 0 or best a 1. The shrimp vegetable on a white sauce had hard carrots, and the gravy was not top notch in flavor. The shrimp were large, and I enjoyed those shrimps the best from all we ordered today, but even those shrimp could have more flavor. The plate has a rice bowl. The rice is disgusting, a zero. It has a cheap rice taste. They don’t know how to make fried rice. It’s too bad. It is not a top notch Chinese Restaurant, and their prices are high. I will not be visiting this Chinese location again. I remember the Mission one being good back in the early 2000s when I used to live here before leaving to SA and now back. I’m not sure if they are the same owner, and I don’t know if the Mission is still any good. However, I know it all depends on the chefs. This one was a disaster. A two is too high. If you’re seeking good Chinese foods,...

LOVE THE FOOD HERE! But the staff is just horrible and unprofessional! I’ve had one waiter a male who works the tables in the back twice and each time he was rude, always forgot our drinks and side orders. One time he brought out our food, but completely forgot to get us drinks or utensils.. when I called for him to come to the table he refused and stood in the back talking to me from across the room instead of coming to our table to see what we needed. He also tried charging us a gratituity fee WITHOUT telling us.. for a table of 5 and a baby which was extremely strange because we have never been charged a fee like that before in all the years we’ve visited. Also the older man in the front with a mustache is quite rude especially when he yelled at an employee right in front of us. I’ve also noticed the decrease in quality in some items of food such as the wonton soup.. today the soup was very watery and lacking in flavor especially Because the soup usually has a dark beef looking broth but today it was a very light color.. the fried wonton that comes with the soup was also stale which I’ve noticed has been happening every visit now. Also the restraunt seriously needs updating after all these years they should really invest in this establishment as it is very dingy.. and they need to get a better management team ASAP! It’s unfortunate because like I said I LOVE THE FOOD HERE, but this new staff and management is really ruining it for me and my family! I really wish the original owners would come back and bring their restraunt back to...

Let me say this off the bat, the food is excellent. While they did run out of two items on the menu, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and let that slide. The reason for the one star is because of the Host (or owner, not sure who he is or his position). When I walked in with my guest we were greeted with, "For two?" No hello or welcome or anything. He then walked to the back of the restaurant and then back saying, "Right this way." I noticed four or so tables on the way that were already clean but maybe he'll give us a more intimate spot? Wrong, he sat us at a table that had a few wrappers and needed a wipe down. He then said, "Give me a minute, I'll get someone to clean this up for you," he then walked towards the back and yelled for someone to clean the tables and told them to always clean tables and leave silverware. Our waiter was nice actually, while I didn't catch his name, the rest of the staff was polite and kind to us. But back to this, when we were done with our meal, we walked to the front to pay and he passed our bill to someone else and said to a staff member, in front of us, "I'm not taking any of the food home, it upset my stomach last time" How can someone say that in front of someone else who just ate the food? It shocked me and my guest.

While I did enjoy the food a lot, because of that visit, I have my doubts of going back. If i do I might just do takeout or go at another time. I did not catch the mans name(I don't even think he...
