This establishment had been one of the cornerstones of Sushi and quality of Japanese food in the McAllen area for years. Recently I thought it would be nice to have a nice dinner with my husband at kumori for a introduction of what places we have in south Texas since we recently moved here from Washington State. Our experience was horrible beyond belief. Having food allergies my husband and I know our protocols when going out especially at a sushi place. We ordered 4 rolls and specified to not put any mayo or artificial crab in our food. We even asked if there was any egg in the tempura batter so we know what rolls to order. The service was pleasant and even the host was very friendly but when it came to our food it was jus embarrassing. Our waiter came to our table 4 times to double check on us and what our allergies were and such but after waiting 1 hour and finally getting our food we were shocked that all the rolls we got were just sushi rice with salmon in the middle with nothing else. We ordered the simplest of simple sushi, a Philadelphia, a twin salmon, a atomic and one another which was baked and apparently was the real reason our food took 1 hour to only get rolls that all were the same.... rice with salmon. We have no idea why they would do this or if they thought our order was some sort of joke. Thankfully I checked my food before leaving and the food was flavorless and disgusting especially the baked one! It had boiled veggies on top of a mushy and overcooked roll. It also seemed other customers were un pleased by the food and the poor waiters even said the chefs did not listen or care about the quality of food. After getting a refund on my sad excuse for sushi, my husband and I left hungry and sadden this place isn't what it used to be. This was such a shame because they also wasted fresh ingredients that could've been an epic...
Read moreI'm a regular customer at the Kumori Sushi & Teppanyaki resturants. I enjoy the new style sashimi, I order a custom roll which an off the menu item and the salmon jalapenito cucumber salad on the appetizer menu. I ask for it not to come in the martini glass the way it is normally presented. I like it in the bowl so theres more room. On 10/13/2019 in the evening I went to kumori on nolana Ave to only have the worst experience ever. Our party sat four people and we all ordered accordingly, drinks, apps,.then our main course. As regulars, we are very precise when placing the order to make it very easy when assisting us. During our experiences before this, Kumori was always up to par. I normally go to the location on 10th in the Uptown Plaza. The only reason we traveled to the nolana location was because the entire plaza was closed on sunday. Our appetizers were never brought to the table but were rung up. Our entrees arrived, but, came out wrong. The tuna was also a very light pink as it appeared bad or to have been sitting out for a long period of time. When water spilled on the table the manager just handed my company a green towel and just hovered over him as he tried to clean himself. The server nor manager tried to assist when they saw the spill. The service was so bad only one person ate at the table and all the food that came out wrong was returned and at check out the server failed to have the manager do the proper void. So we were over charged. After being over charged and the manager knowing we were not pleased with our dining experience he failed to come to the table. Not once did anyone try to resolve anything or help us have a better dining experience. I was a regular at kumori but due to this experience I do not want to contribute any of my money to any kumori franchise. I wish I could give...
Read moreTHERE IS NO PICK UP first off i will say this i love kumori its good the food is always good but i had ordered online for a pick-up, i even checked off bring it to my car, and i waited in my car for about 30 min after my pickup time was set, see i want that mad about picking it up i really wasn't but it the fact that if you say you are going to provide a service and do not go through with it don't make your customers believe you will be able to provide it, I had to find out from another customer that all of the orders were just sitting on a shelf and the customers had to pick it up themselves, and i wasn't busy but if you are a busy person they take too long to fix their errors, the thing that made me annoyed is that when i went inside the store was empty no customers and there were about 4 employees just sitting watching a Sunday football game, and the receptionist was kind but has a sort of annoyance in her tone when she would speak, and the one thing that agitated me is that they had no cups and the receptionist had to give me bowls of soda and she again had an annoyance in her tone when she had to fix the cup error and the manager was very kind and understanding so just be aware that they are very...
