Kot Pot 1 Korean BBQ & Hot Pot — Restaurant in McAllen

My girlfriend and I came in for dinner, even though we had a very long wait time [~2 hours], it is understandable given that they recently opened. we were very patient and waited until we got seated. We enjoyed the food, it was very high quality and very tasty. They have done an amazing job with the ingredients and presentation.

However, I was disappointed at the service. The food was never brought to me for minutes while my girlfriend had all her food at the table. They did not bring my food until we had to bring it to our server’s attention multiple times that my food was missing. Food either never came or she would bring me the wrong items, which was a hassle given that this was not part of the dining experience one would expect. At the end, we even had to chase her down to give her our bill because she never came to our table to collect our payment and it was hard to get her attention.

It was me and my moms first time going to a restaurant like this, even though there was about a 45-minute wait, it was completely understandable since it was their second day of opening. Once we were seated everything was worth the wait!!

Our server Alex made it a good experience, and he made us feel completely comfortable from the start. He walked us through the whole process, explained the menu, and gave us great/popular recommendations. We tried a little bit of everything, and Alex was always informative and parient We were checked on several times, asked what we needed, and our drinks were never empty. You could tell they’re working hard to make sure guests have a good experience. A few slip ups of confusing what table ordered what, but they fixed it and made sure to come back with thw correct items.

We went and chose the dinner option which was a few more $ than the lunch price. It included more meat options. It was a pleasant experience and a really nice atmosphere. The servers were amazing and very attentive!

Rating the entire location a 10/10 compared to the hot pots and Korean BBQs I’ve visited in Houston and other locations. Every place has their pros but this was hands down a great experience.

Yes, you do have to cook your own food which I know is a newer concept to this area down here but the meat is of high quality. You eat while cooking because you have a small stove top on the table.
