Fajitas To Go — Restaurant in McAllen

I've seen this place get nice promotion from fellow foodies...and it's definitely one of the tastier BBQ places out there.

I went during my lunch hour for a to-go box...got me the ribs and fajitas. The meat was perfectly cooked. The ribs...I was literally leaving the bones clean, they were delicious. The prices aren't bad (fajitas/ribs $36). Two people can eat from their 2 meat plates and have food still left over.

The sides are traditional, kept simple...and done just right. The mashed potatoes were definitely my fav.

Why not the 5 star? Well I mentioned in an earlier review...4 stars is not horrible either. It was simply the wait...I know they prepare everything but I think I waited near 30 mins in my car, while it was being prepared. I went during my lunch hour unfortunately...and most of it was spent waiting. This isn't a knock on the place....but an observation. Ordering ahead is the best way to go...

Food was good but price for a small tray of meats (fajita, sausage, and small flanken ribs) was a shocker to say the least. I could not believe that the total was $140. I understand that restaurants take pride in their products and will charge accordingly but $140 for BBQ meats it's a bit much. Next time a family member asks for BBQ meats, I will consider other options. Again, the food was good and fresh but not worth $140 in my opinion.

I did confirm that there was a chicken leg and wing in the small tray and we received 4 sides, not six large sides. The amount of people fed was 5 adults. Great Food, great prices. The short rib plates was amazing thinly cut and well seasoned. We got the beans and mashed potatoes. The beans great flavor, spicy and very aromatic. The mashed potatoes are just a smoked baked potato with peels and all. Super buttery and delicious. The reason why it's not a 5 star the fajitas are marinated. They fall apart before you could chew them. Some people like them like that not myself. Although you could feed them to a 4 year old no problem. Great lunch spot....
