Red Lobster — Restaurant in McAllen

On 04/25/24 we decided to eat at the Red Lobster on 7617 N 10th McDonald’s McAllen, Tx and I got to say is the most unprofessional! Horrible service! No Hospitality! The server kept wiping his forehead with his hands over and over I was so disgusted that I really wanted to cancel eating there! Never came to ask if we needed anything, water ,we asked for biscuits it took forever as we were done eating I asked a lady to call Management, he took forever and when he showed up , his face was already negative towards us or me . I complained about the server that we saw touching his forehead wiping it several times and server never once came to ask if we needed anything or if everything was fine (nothing) Manager Rene didn’t even seemed concerned all he said I’ll talk to him . I also mentioned I could have needed butter for my baked potato that was completely cold by then All he did was bring butter period! How unfortunate at this Red Lobster has very poor management for customers! Not that I wanted anything as a result of this Location Poor customer service but he didn’t even apologize or asked if a dessert for our inconvenience would makeup for the horrible service or didn’t even phase him to offer us a discount! So you actually see the lack of customer service care so why should any server learn how to give customer service … Bad Management on Rene ! On my receipt it says comments or suggestions to call (General Manager)Steve Campos , well I did didn’t answer I left my number, 2nd time I called a lady answered I asked to speak to Steve, she said he was busy so I gave her my name Ann and gave my number again and yet to hear from GM Steve. I took my mom out to celebrate mother’s day early since I live out of town. Red Lobster has always grabbed my mom’s attention even though she only been there once and it was my first time trying out that restaurant. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. I work in food service and really hate to go out of my way to leave a bad review since I know how it can be working at a restaurant but the service was literally unacceptable. We entered the restaurant were we were greeted kinda dry by the hosters they were more into their conversation than to attend us then we were sat down to our both I noticed that the waiter introduced himself to other guests dinning around us but when he came to ours not even that was done. It took the waiter a good while just for him to take our drinks and we still had to wait another good 15-20 minutes just to get our drinks in different intervals. It’s understandable when the restaurant is clearly busy but when you can see the same waiter in the hall that leads to the kitchen talking to other associates it’s clearly not busy at all. I decided to ignore it since we weren’t in a hurry to eat since it was a special occasion. I noticed he would keep checking up on other guests around us even a couple that sat down after us were attend, given there drinks AND FOOD before us and that’s cause he hasn’t taken our ordered yet. Finally after another 20 minutes he took our order, I didn’t like his attitude. We asked him nicely for and extra plate and he offered to bring us more biscuits but never did he come back with the items while the whole time he would clearly look down at our table and just look away that’s were I knew I had enough. I decided to come with my girlfriend to eat on my birthday and I requested Eddie to be my server, HE DID AMAZING but the manager (Rene) came up and ruined our entire experience. We sat in the EMPTY bar area and we were the only table there I ordered cheese sticks with my meal as an appetizer and the manager brought them out and stood right next to our table with his butt facing towards my girlfriends face and yelled “cheese sticks (x3) who ordered cheese sticks”(keep in mind nobody else was around, we were the only ones there b) and I raised my hand and said “I did”, he then threw them at my table and walked away. I’ve never had an experience in a restaurant like this before, the only reason I didn’t tell him anything about it was because my girlfriend asked me not to do anything but I still felt disrespected by him and he made my girlfriend very uncomfortable, what he did was unacceptable and I don’t tolerate that type of disrespect from anyone and even more so he had already previously looked and stared at me with an ugly face. I previously worked there and I quit due to some factors but I don’t deserve that type of treatment, I went as a customer and as any customer I thought I was gonna be treated with respect but I guess that’s not how things go around here. the last thing was that it was hot in the restaurant, I don’t think anybody would want to eat In that environment and it isn’t fair to the staff that they have to work in those conditions given that they decided to work in a mid-expensive restaurant.

Edit: came to the restaurant again and the manager was more helpful, came and asked if everything was okay in which to we responded yes. The experience was pleasant , and all in all the atmosphere was great and overall changed my view on the restaurant. Went from 1...
