Although this location is fairly new, there are two others that have existed for years, and the problems I encountered should not have taken place. I parked in front of the main entrance. I was greeted by a pleasant hostess and sat at the bar, which was not that crowded. The bartender was cutting fruit with a knife. I asked for a shot of whisky, and he poured the whisy using his gloved finger to control the pour. He had just cross contaminated my drink. I asked for a second one and asked him to change gloves. He seemed bothered, and I had to explain to him the basics of cross contamination.
Two young ladies sat near me, and a few minutes later, he gave them a basket with food. One of the ladies said that she had not ordered it. He said they were giving appetizers as a promotion. However, they were the only ones who got them.
I placed a to go order. He messed up my order and ended up messing up my order by including and charging me for 2 extra side items I had not aa ked for.
A lady sat next to him and asked for a dry white wine. He brought her a white zinfandel because it was the only bottle to have the word white on it. She said that was not what she wanted. He said he didn't know anything about wines, yet he was the bartender.
My order, which was a 2 sandwiches to go, was botched. I didn't open the bag until I got home that I opened the bags. The sandwiches did not have bans.
I was extremely disappointed and will i not return. The food was much more expensive compared to its competitor down the road.
I would advise anyone to consider other choices before deciding...
Read moreAs a former owner of USA Today’s #1 Restaurant in San Antonio I rarely if ever go out for lunch or dinner. Decided to try out Reyna’s BBQ & Cocina myself. Being highly critical hopefully helps. The restaurant is exquisite, it does not fit a BBQ Place agenda. It reaches, no it raised the bar significantly for others. The place was packed, walked in right at 12:15pm. It took less than 5 minutes to place my order, the girl was very well informed and offered me a few different options. I settled on something that if you want o succeed you can not screw up…Fajita Tacos with Charro Beans and Rice. I actually put a timer to see how long it would take, being that they were swamped. Eleven minutes and 38 seconds later my food arrived. Wow. The fajitas are just on a different level than anything I have ever had. Just enough smoke, cooked to perfection. Not dry, not raw, just amazingly perfect. The rice and beans not to be out done were easily complimentary to the Fajitas.
Let me add one more thing, I read some of the negative reviews and as a Restaurant Owner in both McAllen and San Antonio, the first week of opening will come with mistakes. One can not prepare for that. Never went with the intention of writing this, but for those of you who had a bad experience, I definitely would give them a second chance. Running a place like this takes a hot minute for it to gel. They are clearly on their way.
While I may not go out a lot, one thing is certain Reyna’s has a regular now. 5 stars. Great Job. ...
Read moreI'm not the type to leave a semi-bad review, but this time I felt like I had to. We've come twice to this location. The first time they messed up our order. They made several mistakes even when they delivered our food to the table. The waitress delivering our food was very rude and seemed annoyed when we told her our order was still wrong & we were still missing items. She made it seem like it was our fault that she had given us our order wrong. It wasn't a good experience at all. However, the food was delicious. Today, we decided to go again. We waited in line for about 15 minutes or so since there was only one person taking orders. They knew the line was HUGE, yet they didn't think of opening the 2nd line. Once we were finally able to order we ask for a Fajita Burrito and fries and the person taking our order tells us they were out of both fajitas and fries. This upset us since nobody bothered to tell us they had run out of those items. After wasting ALL that time in line we decided to leave since they didn't have what we wanted. I know it's a new location and many people are trying it out, but they shouldn't be running out of any type of meat. Especially knowing that they have several people dining in and going through the drive-thru each day. That one time we were actually able to eat there the food didn't disappoint. It was delicious & so was the sweet tea! The staff needs to be more friendly and welcoming. Plus, the atmosphere makes it feel like you're rushing to both order and eat. Hope this...
