In the time following the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become apparent that Kumori has experienced a notable decline in both the quality of its food and its dining experience. A once-revered establishment for its exceptional culinary standards and ambiance, Kumori now seems to grapple with consistency across its various locations. The absence of a uniform approach to plating is a glaring issue, suggesting a lack of effective management and oversight. Each chef appears to follow their own preferences, leading to a disjointed dining experience that undermines the restaurant's reputation for finesse and attention to detail.
Moreover, the deterioration in the quality of ingredients and dishes is disappointing for patrons who have come to expect high standards from Kumori. This decline is not just confined to the food; the interiors of the restaurants, once inviting and meticulously designed, now leave much to be desired. The ambiance and aesthetic appeal that added to the overall dining experience seem to have been neglected, detracting further from the allure of dining at Kumori.
A particularly telling sign of the restaurant's current struggles is the repurposing of bar tops, traditionally the vibrant sushi stations where diners could watch sushi chefs at work. These areas have been converted into pickup stations for to-go orders, indicating a shift in focus that may not align with the expectations of traditional dine-in customers. While adapting to the increase in takeaway orders is understandable in the post-pandemic landscape, this change should not come at the expense of the dine-in experience, especially in a setting that prized the artistry and interactive aspect of sushi preparation.
Kumori's expansion efforts, while ambitious, seem premature given the evident need for significant improvements in existing locations. The management's priority should be to restore the high standards that once defined Kumori's dining experience. This includes investing in training and quality control to ensure consistency across all locations, revisiting the design and functionality of the restaurant interiors to enhance the dining atmosphere, and balancing the demand for to-go orders with the unique dining experience that made Kumori a favorite among sushi enthusiasts.
In summary, while Kumori has the potential to reclaim its status as a premier dining destination, it requires immediate and focused efforts to address the current shortcomings. Elevating the consistency of food presentation, improving the quality of dishes, and enhancing the overall dining environment are critical steps toward revitalizing Kumori's reputation and ensuring its success...
Read moreTheir curbside service sign asks you reads to text a number with your name and the spot number upon arrival. I received a notification my take-out was ready before I sent the text. 10 minutes later, in an empty parking lot, my food still hadn’t been brought to me. When I tried to call, nobody picked up. Finally, I went inside and waited about 5 minutes before anyone came to attend me. There were 2 tables that had customers and the person that eventually came to help me was talking with some co-workers. No motion that she was coming to help or indication of a moment more.
I purchased 3 kids meals and my own meal. The menu that I’ve ordered from multiple times states that the yakisoba kids meal includes fried rice and a drink. When I got to pick up at the location there were only 2 drinks ready and they argued with me over the 3rd drink so much that I had to show them what I ordered. I brought everything to the car and then discovered 3 of the fried rices missing.
I called and spoke with one person that told me the kids meals I ordered no longer included the rice and passed me over to another girl. She had such a bright smiling tone it was almost comical - it continued through the conversation. In a very scripted and non-caring manner she advised me that the particular kids meal I ordered “NO LONGER” included the fried rice. No apology for the confusion either. I advised that I paid for the fried rice as it’s how I’ve ordered it for years and that’s how it’s shown on the app. After a long pause she stated the only thing she could do was give me an adult steamed rice. I said really? She said yes I can give you some steamed rice. Ridiculous and petty! We went there so very often. It’s how it’s been on the dine-in menu for years.
So the first girl brought out my steamed rice. Again - no apology just “here is your steamed rice.” Very unprofessional and no courtesy at all.
I got home and there was maybe a small tong grab of noodles (at most) for the kids noodles with a few half frozen pieces of broccoli. The coke was very low on syrup and was even light in color. Flavorless with tons of carbonation. For $4.99, I would have been better off at fast-food Japanese or maybe a cup of ramen noodles which would have been more filling. See pictures below.
Will no longer go there and will spread the word on their very horrible customer service, degrading quality and poor customer service. Lost a...
Read moreWe got there a little late on a Monday evening , yet still before closing time. The waiter off the bat took a bit to even come ask for our drinks and his vibe wasn’t very welcoming. Even when we ordered the drinks his response was “ I’ll bring the drinks as soon as I’m able to” The drinks we got were flat and asked if we could get new ones so of course we had to wait even longer almost 20 min .. by that time a friendly person was assisting. When we ordered I had asked about the ramen and the waiter asked if I wanted chicken pork or beef. I order the beef.. I got pork. I let them know I had ordered the beef and the other waitress said they only did pork and chicken. I let her know that the original waiter had mentioned beef as an option but if they didn’t have that then the chicken one would be fine.. thinking they were going to remake my ramen was too much , they brought out pieces of steak in a separate small bowl and by that time my ramen was already cold . I didn’t want to send it back and be “that” person so we just kept it. The rice was burnt and the rolls were falling apart. Definitely a rushed order… to top it off when we paid, the waiter gave us the machine to scan and my husband was trying to pay when the screen changed on the machine, my husband told him he didn’t know what he did or pressed and the waiter rushing said “ it’s all good do you want a receipt”? Which we said no that it was fine. Anyway the owner apparently calls my daughter after we had left close to 11 pm and says we left without paying the tab.. I called back and clarified that we did NOT leave without paying the tab and explained to him what happened and that his waiter said everything was good and had even asked if we wanted a receipt. The last thing we wanted was to be accused of skipping out on a tab and end up being blasted all over social media.. the owner had sent a cashapp account to send the money to, which we did right away. We won’t be returning the overall experience at this place was just not it. The only reason we chose this location was because it was closest to us .. just disappointed over all. Thank you to the ladies who were actually nice during our...
