I am a vast Bonefish fan, mainly because of the consistency/quality of the food and service (I've been dining at Bonefish for more than 20 years). I am on a business trip and was thrilled that a Bonefish was outside my hotel. I knew I would eat there four days in a row (that's how much I love Bonefish).
On Thursday, when I arrived after a long day of travel, I decided to park at the curbside to order food to go. Firstly, the app gave me issues, so I decided to go to the bar to grab a drink and order the food. The bar was about 50% full, so I didn't think it would be an issue with the bartender to have a drink while I waited for my food. The bartender approached me and gave me a menu, and I told her I wanted to grab a drink and get food to go. She responded, âI'll grab someone from take-out to get your order,â and then she walked away. I couldn't grab a drink, and no one came out, after 5 minutes I leftâŚ. So, with that, I got back into my car and proceeded to try and order online instead of using the app. Long story and successfully, the order went through and came out promptly to curbside pick-up.
The food was super cold when I returned to the hotel to enjoy my meal. I didn't expect it to be hot, given that I took it to go, and it was probably about 10 minutes from pick up to eating. Still, the soup tasted as if it came out of the fridge, and the cup was half full; the salad was wilted to the point where it was inedible (I assume they have the sales premade? In which case, this had to be days old). The lobster tails were chewy and not the quality I'm used to with Bonefish⌠The Broccoli tasted of vinegar, which I have no idea why. The only thing I finished was half the bread and some of the mashed potatoes. At this time, I figured maybe they were having an âoffâ day and wouldn't let it deter me from going the next night.
On to the next day. I placed my second curbside order and went all out. When placing the order on the app, I had a few questions, so I called the restaurant to clarify the following: I wanted to know the options for the sides for the fresh veggies (I had broccoli the day before, which was not so good, so I wanted something different). The lady I spoke with said the app lets you choose, but it didn't give me a choice. She let me know that green beans and spinach were also available. She said to put it in the special instructions, which I did (see the screenshot). Also, picking a Caesar salad makes you choose a dressing in which none of the options are Caesar. So, she said to put no dressing and put it in the special instructions, which I did as well.
Picking up the food from curbside was great; it was the same lady as the day before. She was super friendly and all good there. The order time was also prompt, so I felt good about my choice to give it a second chance. This is where it goes all BAD, again. When I arrived back at my hotel only 10 minutes later, it was the same issue. The mussels Josephine had about a tablespoon of sauce. My favorite thing about the mussels is the sauce; there barely was any. They were also not the quality I usually get. They tasted like frozen mussels. I ate about 3 and was just turned off⌠Not only that, but I also put in the special instructions to add a side of melted butter; they did not. Now for the main course⌠I ordered the shrimp and scallop skewer, âOscar style,â with a side of green beans and jasmine rice. They did NOT give me green beans, but instead, the vinegary tasting broccoli again, the scallops were the size of quarters that tasted like plastic, and the âOscar styleâ was a joke with 4 small clumps of crab meat and 2 slices of asparagus that were tough (how do you charge $5 for that, I don't know). The shrimp were ok, so at least I had something to eat with my bread (which I asked for extra pesto oil to find out there was only 1 was also sad). THEN, to top it off, they gave me NO salad dressing⌠So I had a Caesar salad with NO Caesar dressing⌠I threw about 90% of...
Read moreTRAINEE NIGHT for front staff, back staff, and management. OK food ruined by high price and lousy service. I expected high price as we used to eat regularly at Bonefish in Denver, but at the price - the service should at least be the competency level of a Waffle House (they can bring what I order and the right silverware and condiments.) I asked for a booth pretty please. We were seated next to the toilet and the exit from the kitchen for the front staff with very high traffic. The restaurant was 30% to 50% full - all zones were being served and at least half the booths in areas being served were alternately empty. This was 6:30 PM on a Sunday night so I doubt they were booked for reservations. The staff seemed offended what we ordered, not just confused - actually offended that we both ordered seafood and meat for a total of three main courses and a addition of crab legs. I ordered no sides and ate no sides due to medical issues. I should not have to explain HIPPA medical issues to restaurant staff outside of allergies. My wife ordered the add on of crab legs. - They did not bring the butter (remember this is a seafood restaurant with special ads for addition of crab legs ... with butter in the picture.) We asked for more butter from the two staff that seemed to be waiting our table. We had to ask a third time. I ordered a steak and the staff never asked how to cook it before they left. The staff member came back and asked if I ordered medium, I said no - I would like medium rare. She repeated back, "medium rare." They did not bring the steak knife and they brought the wrong cut of steak. I ordered medium rare and it was medium to medium well. They could not keep the water glasses filled. When leaving, I asked to see the manager and simply told him I would like a PAID cash receipt for the cash and cash 20% tip. ( I normally tip 50% as I used to serve.) He went in the back, came out front, and presented the PAID cash receipt. I could not read the receipt - and the manager could not read the receipt. He explained that the printer in the back did not work and reprinted the receipt on a different printer. SOOO if you know the printer in the back does not work, and you know you have an irate customer - why would you print in the back and NOT EVEN look at the receipt. He never asked if I had any problems and I did not offer. Poor management service as well. I would rate the food better ... if they brought the food I ordered. This trainee level of service: front staff, back staff, and management is ridiculous at the price. Waffle house will bring what you ordered and deliver condiments and a steak knife when you order a steak. "Bonefish" - please step up your service to Waffle House standards, or at least Huddle House. When I left the restaurant, I looked around for cameras, wondering if the TV show "Punked" was...
Read moreIf youâre going to Bonefish at McCandless Crossing â request Lorie. Sheâs truly one of a kind.
My family and I recently had dinner at Bonefish Grill, and while weâve always enjoyed the food, this visit was different â all because of Lorie. I honestly canât say enough good things about her. She didnât just give us great service⌠she gave us a full experience weâll be talking about for a long time.
From the moment we were seated, Lorie made us feel like we were more than just another table. She was warm, welcoming, and so genuinely kind â the type of person who makes you instantly feel comfortable. She checked in at the perfect times, had great recommendations, remembered the little things we mentioned, and made our kids feel like they were the most important people in the restaurant. You can just feel when someone truly loves what they do â and with Lorie, itâs so clear.
What really stood out is that Lorie isnât just a fantastic server â sheâs the kind of person who represents a company in the best possible way. She goes above and beyond, treats every guest with heart and care, and makes dining out feel special again. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and natural hospitality are next-level.
Bonefish is lucky to have someone like her on their team â and honestly, Pittsburgh is lucky too. I would come back just to sit in Lorieâs section. She turns a good dinner into something memorable.
So if youâre thinking of going, do yourself a favor and ask for Lorie. Sheâs truly the best â and she deserves all the recognition.
Thank you, Lorie â you made our night, and we canât wait...
