Tacos La Patrona — Restaurant in McDonough

Usually we like this restaurant, but this Friday, changed my perspective. My daughter has special needs and is mentally disabled. We felt like the servers were continually laughing at her having a doll baby at 19 yrs old from the first time went sat down. The young female server acted liked she did not speak English and had no clue what we were saying. In which we had to repeat it to someone else when they came up to the table. We had no refills on our drinks (sodas), we had to ask for a refill on chips and salsa. (We had bought a large cheese dip and chunky guacamole). No silverware, we had to ask. The shrimp inside my McDonough Gigante Burrito tasted like dirt, like they did not de-vein it. The lettuce was soggy and the minced steak inside was so salty. Had to ask for the check 3 times. It it never came. Had to repeatedly ask for to go boxes.

(They were not even busy when we came in at around 6:00 pm.).

We finally went to the cash register for the check and they told me the total but never offered for me to look at the receipt or give me the receipt. I had to ask for it to review it in which I saw that they already put on the gratuity, We were only 4 people. Mind you that I have no problem paying gratuity, (I tip generously usually 15-20% of my bill) but I have a problem with not having good service and gratuity being tacked on anyway @ $17 and some change (almost like an entitlement).

Let me say my experience started off rocky but ended up being amazing. I was in the mood for menudo, but i went to a different location that ran out, so i called in here to see if they had any. They said yes, so i placed a pick up order. I got the cheese cake, and that was great. So, i think they ran out and gave me as much as they could because they basically only gave me a bone and a few pieces of meat, and the rest was just caldo.. which made me a bit upset. I returned and discussed my issue and asked to get a different dish at the same price. She agreed and got the caldo de rez. Finally!! An authentic Taqueria in MCD. My wife and I decided to try this taqueria today and I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very attentive. They took our to go order very timely and were very helpful in making our selections. Our order came out quickly and we requested extra salsa. They graciously provided and didn’t charge us even when we offered to pay. The real surprise happened when we arrived at home. The tamales were amazingly different. The proteins were on top of the tamale and there was a fantastic red sauce accompanying them. The flavors were spot on and the presentation was enticing us to enjoy them first. My wife and also had a burrito but were too overwhelmed after having the tamales( as they were so filling ). We tried the burritos the next day and they were amazing.
