The Courthouse Tavern — Restaurant in McHenry

Our long anticipated visit to The Courthouse Taverndid not disappoint! Blake our server/bartender was great! We ordered Toasted Artisan Flatbread- Margarita and Deconstructed Skewers -Filet Medallions (Med). The Filet was prepared, spot on and the flavor was absolutely fabulous! On to the Flatbread, the flavor was very good and it was well constructed, just a tad over toasted on the bottom however, not burnt just slightly over toasted. We enjoyed a delicious, what appeared to be a house brewed Iced/Tea that we received refills on and as soon as we needed replenishment, Blake was on it, and we NEVER had to ask! The atmosphere was both beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and inviting, and they have an outdoor bar and yard for bags. Additional parking is located in the back, high tops and tables to accommodate everyone and a private dining area for parties. They also have live music on scheduled dates too! We will definitely be back!...

Had high hopes for this new place in town and it fell short for us. When we arrived, there were only about 6 people there sitting at the bar. We sat at the bar as well. The bartender, right in front of us making drinks, didn't acknowledge us at all. Not a simple "hello" or "I'll be right with you", which is basic customer service. We don't mind waiting when the bartender is clearly in the middle of making drinks, but to not be acknowledged was weird. A little while after, someone the bartender knew came in and he stopped what he was doing to greet them and give them menus & took their drink order. So it seems like it just depends on who you are as to what kind of service you'll get. Thought this was a one off incident, so we gave them a second chance and the same thing happened in regards to not even being acknowledged at the bar. No thank you. If the customer service was better this place would be a top notch. It’s a beautiful establishment . It would’ve been great if your website was updated because we tried ordering a drink that was on the online menu and she basically made us feel stupid telling us “that’s now our menu are you sure you’re looking at the right place” even though it was the website with the picture of your location on it. I am very disappointed that my experience was not great due to an incorrect menu and poor customer service. I visited evening of july 9.
