I don't understand how this place had such high reviews! My husband and I stopped in for lunch one day and it was AWFUL! My husband ordered the lunch sushi combo and I got the lunch chicken teriyaki. My salad was DRENCHED in ginger dressing and I could not finish it. My husband said his soup was good. Our dumplings appetizer was so nasty. It had freezer burn marks on it and you could taste it still. My husband's sushi was very poorly made and fell apart. He said he could get better sushi at Market Street. My chicken teriyaki was the most vile thing I have ever eaten. I tried so hard to eat it but it made me gag with every bite. The chicken had no flavor and again it was just DRENCHED in teriyaki sauce. When we got home I got SO sick and was sick the rest of the day. Was our first time at Zen Sushi & Grill for lunch this weekend. My son had two Amazing rolls. One with shrimp tempura, the other with spicy salmon. Both rolls stuffed with beautiful ingredients just waiting to be scarfed!! I ordered a salmon skin roll, which was so perfectly crafted. The salmon skin crispy, little veggies tucked all inside, with that umami sauce on top give it that yummy combination! We also shared an appetizer of veggie tempura with generous pieces of zucchini, sweet potato, broccoli and onion rings Which is nothing without that sweet tangy dipping sauce, am I right?? Very nice and pleasantly decorated interior. Booths have high backs and thin individual cushions, tables have well padded chairs. Great menu with many Japanese dishes. Sushi was spectacular and the prices are excellent compared to the portions and quality of food you receive. Soft drinks come in original plastic bottles that you can pour into a glass with ice, if you prefer so, you can take your bottle with you if you don't finish it. Green tea comes hot or cold and is from Japan. Udon noodles (soup) are delicious. Out of the many Sushi places I have been trying in Collin County, this one has jumped to the top 3.
