My husband and I were starving and found this place on google as we made our way back to Erie. Thank GOODNESS it isn’t too far away because this is our new favorite sit-down Mexican spot.
I got the camaron tacos (shrimp) and the flavor profile was so unique, on par with fancy taquerias in California. My tacos came stuffed with crispy breaded shrimp, fried plantain, mango salsa, and spread with refried beans. It was insanely balanced, shrimp perfectly cooked, the banana a great textural and sweet element, and the mango perfectly tart and fresh.
My husband got the shrimp, steak, and chorizo fajitas and was extremely impressed as well. He also got a giant goblet of their like margarita for $6.50!!!
What is going to have me coming back (and what is also going home with me as a snack for later…) is the uchepo side that comes with my taco. It’s a sweet corn tamale that is like a dense, sweet cornbread that was unbelievably good with everything on the plate as it was good by itself. It was so good that I took home an extra for later.
Unbelievable detour led us to our new favorite Mexican spot....
Read moreFirst time here… The entrees were underwhelming and off in their taste. Chicken verde was borderline inedible, not even close to what I was expecting after reading the menu. Shredded chicken in the chimichanga was bland and under seasoned. Should have ordered tacos to be fair for first time dining. Overall disappointed in the taste of the dinner entrees.
Nice atmosphere, bar seating available. Wobbly table and easy to feel awkward in the center of the room. Decent service, available but lacking check ins after food delivery.
The refried black beans were fantastic and the rice was okay, a bit dry and served as a filler. Salads were over dressed in a tangy orange vinaigrette that was a bit too sweet. But the lettuce was excellent. Good chips and delicious salsa came out with the drinks.
Decent margarita, lime on the rocks, and the beer was served ice cold in a frosted mug.
Will give it a try one more time just to have those refried beans again, but do NOT recommend the...
