Of all the sub shops in the area, this is my favorite. The people who work here are helpful. The first time I went here a few years back, I customized a sub for my guy and he was floored with the amount of meat that was on it. The subs are already huge, so add a few more meats and this was a SUB!! I don't get to visit Meadville as frequently as I used to so it's been a while. I walked in and was greeted by the same outstanding customer service and pleasantly surprised that they had bubble tea, which was customizable and delicious (there was a decaf option with lemonade instead of black tea). My husband LOVED his sub (bacon club). I took a risk and ordered the lobster roll on brioche--the bun looked and tasted great. I ended up passing on the lobster because it wasn't the color that I am accustomed to from lobster (light pink instead of white). Definitely not a maine lobster roll or like the ones in NC. This was my error because when I saw the lobster being scooped out, right then I should have changed my order and kept that amazing brioche bun with other veggies. I'll definitely return because the food is really good and the portions are immense and the brioche is calling to me. The food also travels well without getting soggy. Service is expedient and the people are helpful. Side note--you may get two meals out of one sub. Deducted one star because of the lobster since I tried it and it tasted off; threw it away. I'm picky so there is that. The Whole Darn Thing is the best sandwich shop in the area!!! Stop and grab one to eat that day or into the next one because they keep well and taste just as good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood news bad news review: we ordered a sub for pickup. Picked it up left, opened it up to eat and found it was the wrong sub on the wrong bread and toasted instead of cold. Went back and the girl behind the counter apologized and immediately began to remake the correct sub. (The good news, what happened next is not)
Someone from the back came out, asked what was wrong, I explained. She said āsomeone got the wrong subāā¦and about that time someone came up to the drive up widow saying they received the wrong subā¦
So she rewrapped the sandwich I just brought back and gave it to them with no further explanation to them. She appeared to be expecting me to accept the sandwich they just brought out of their car as mine and didnāt seem to see anything wrong with giving that customer a sandwich that some stranger (me) just brought in the front door. They remade my sub while I watched and we left.
So, they make a good sandwich at a reasonable price.
I would suggest ordering in person rather than for pickup as it seems that they wonāt guarantee that your order didnāt go for a ride in someoneās car until it is discovered an error was made and returned to the shop where it is apparently policy to rewrap and serve such subs to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a little mom and pop sub shop. I ordered gluten free items. They will ask āallergy or preference,ā and if you say āallergy,ā they will change gloves and make your food in a separate space, but still in front of you such that you can see the whole process. Thereās still a small risk of cross-contamination, but it is a sub shop after all. As far as taste goes, GF Wedge substitute for bread was good, the flatbread was not.
Now about the service- it took forever. I arrived at about dinner time on a Saturday and was in line for a long time. When it was my turn to order, I got the employee with a bad attitude. She has dark hair and a tattoo on the back of her neck of a skeleton hand giving you the middle finger. If you have the same misfortune- the trick is to MATCH HER ENERGY. Do not hesitate. Be blunt and loud and clear when you speak to her, just like she is with you. You will get what you order, if itās GF it will be safe to eat, and the whole experience will feel like the āSoup Naziā episode of Seinfeld.
The other employee there also helped with my order, and...
