I've said for years that Mebane needed a Greek/Mediterranean restaurant option. Low and behold, Castle Mediterranean came to Mebane during one of the darkest times to start a new restaurant--the year of the pandemic! However, despite the turbulent times, the guys at Castle have done an amazing job in establishing themselves as the go to Mediterranean Restaurant in the area.
I usually get the Beef and Lamb Gyro, which consists of thick slices of meat on a warm pita filled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Very tasty! I usually get the french fries as a side, but they have some great alternative options such as hummus, cauliflower salad, and grape leaves (my wife likes these the best). My wife usually likes to get the falafel, which is tasty, and my kids like the chicken over rice kids meal.
If you like dessert, they have baklava and a variety of ice cream.
Plan to spend about $10 on average for an adult meal. Kids meals are $6 and come with a drink.
Overall, the service is wonderful. You do have to wait about ten minutes for your food to be ready, which is perfectly fine considering they are making it fresh and this is not fast food.
Take a seat in their dining room and enjoy the friendly and bright atmosphere and watch a soccer game they usually have running on a TV.
Great family atmosphere! Thank you guys for bringing...
Read moreI needed to find a place to grab food for my kiddos quickly and happened upon this restaurant. I was impressed by the strong Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try.
I placed our order online through the website which was an easy process, which I did not take for granted because it is not always the case. I appreciated that there was an option to either pay online or once we arrived for pickup. I opted to wait and pay in the restauranr, just in case. When we arrived, my husband went inside to pay for our food and get the order.
My daughter ordered the falafel sandwich with a side of fries. My son opted for the chicken kabobs, with french fries, tzakiki, and salad. My husband got a side of hummus with pita. I ordered a side of lentil soup.
My kiddos food looked really good. I samples a few of their fries, which were hot and well seasoned. I also tasted some of the hummus and pita which was very good as well. My lentil soup was flavorful and well seasoned. The only negative is that it separated very easily with the broth on top and lentils down at the bottom. I have had lentil soup at another restaurant where this was not the case.
But overall it was a fantastic experience. I am definitely saving this restaurant as a favorite when we are...
Read moreMediterranean food is my favorite. I went to school in Dearborn aka "Little Lebanon." When I heard Mebane was getting a Mediterranean spot I was definitely not expecting much but disappointment, but this place is the truth. I still can't believe it. The first time I went, I wanted to be sure it wasn't a fluke, because I've had that happen too many times. But four times I've been in in as many weeks, and each time, I've had consistently excellent meals. The chicken shawarma is out of this world, it's got a little something extra going for it, just absolutely incredible. The falafel is not dry and crumbly like the other places in this county. And, they tabbouleh, which frankly, anyone claiming to sell Mediterranean food should have on the menu. The staff is friendly, attentive, and accommodating, the restaurant is clean. The food is also FRESH, basically made to order, so if you're eating on lunch, order your food online ahead and they'll have it ready for you when you get there to eat. They also have a very reasonable catering menu. I'm thrilled we have this place in town, and I will now officially declare...
