Junction on 70 — Restaurant in Mebane

So I found this gem in a small town called Mebane! Some months ago, one of my friends was hyping this place up and telling me how good the food was. Due to my job, I am typically in this part of NC every Monday. So back then I decided that I wanted to stop by and give them a try. HOUSTON… We have a problem! They were not open on Mondays at the time for some reason. So as I’m driving through there today, compared to the last time I took the scenic route, I saw cars parked alongside of the road. It was just my luck… I am happy to say that my luck paid off. If you are looking for that mom and pop style restaurant with an inviting atmosphere and delicious food, YOU HAVE FOUND IT! Looking at the menu, you could choose from burgers, sandwiches, pastas, steaks, and pizza. A versatile menu with much to choose from. I was crossed between the $15 Ribeye and the bacon mushroom Swiss burger. For the appetizer I chose the cheese fries. I forgot to add the bacon…lol I must say, the service was EXCELLENT and fast. The food was HOT and the burger cooked medium was nothing less than perfect. They are already decorated for the holidays, so it looks like a little spot you’d see in one of those hallmark movies. The homemade chips were on point and their ranch that I think they make. I was not disappointed! They only thing is, I wish the tables had ketchup or the waitress would have asked me specifically if I wanted it with my meal. Believe it or not, the burger didn’t need it and it was DELICIOUS! I will definitely be back and this review does no justice for how great the food and service was. The food was so good, it made me say “GEE-WHIZZ”!

Myself and a Co-worker decided to try out Junction on 70 based on a recommendation from a co-worker. We were on our way back to Charlotte and hadn't eaten anywhere in Mebane before . We were greeted by a very nice waitress by the name of Samantha . Great spirit and friendly attitude . Evening business started to pick up and we noticed people not being attended to . We order garlic knots as an appetizer, which frankly , was the best part of our dinner . They came out hot and were delicious . My friend ordered ribeye with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The potatoes looked like they came out of a box, and the salad looked like it was pre bagged. My friend actually took the time to plate it and make it look WAY BETTER ! I ordered the Ribs, Mac and cheese and side salad . The salad, again looked and tasted as if it was bagged from a grocery store , the Mac and cheese had no flavor. I was excited about the ribs when I picked them up and the meat fell off the bone, however that is where the excitement ended. They tasted bad , almost burnt , and overwhelmed with a BBQ sauce flavor possibly to mask how bad the ribs were . I let the server know ( who was very good, just busy ) and she said she would get with the manager . I was not looking for anything free , just maybe a conversation with the manager or kitchen manager to express my opinion. No one came out to talk to us , and took $10.00 off the bill. I would have rather talked to someone and paid full price , so they could fix the issue than pay $10.00 less and have no one listen . The staff was overwhelmed , but had 3 hostesses (what it seemed ) that never smiled and were on their phones. I was so looking forward to this experience , but unfortunately we won't be back when I travel...

Before I go into details, I encourage anyone reading this to check out my other reviews. I am completely fair, and actually try to only leave positive reviews. I understand we are in a pandemic still, and the food industry has suffered a lot. We are all short-staffed, no matter the profession, and we are all tired. I get it. That considered, this still left me with no choice but to leave this review. I am doing this more than anything for this restaurant, hopefully they can take it only as a mark for needing an improvement, which might even come down to just better training for one person.

On Sunday (4/2/23), I called Junction so I could feed my family. This is how the phone call went down: 7:11 - we called, the phone was answered by a female, who just said "hold on" and placed the phone down. Five minutes went by, could hear drink orders being taken, lots of conversation and laughter. We hung up. 7:16 - we called back, sent to voicemail 7:17 - called back, the phone picked up and no one said anything but they clearly just put the phone down on the bar. We could hear drink orders again, normal conversation

Beyond frustrating. The establishment closes at 8pm. It seems clear that whoever was answering the phone doesn't seem to care about business, only the tips they are getting from the bar patrons.

And this is our '2nd chance' at Junction, the last time we had family take-out one of our burgers was raw (not 'edible raw', literally not cooked on the inside). Now to have this experience, I believe it has sealed the deal. Wanted to share on here for others to see, but this literally could just be one tainted employee. Hope you can fix...
