I usually go to the Riviera on Stokes Rd. I live closer to the one on Tuckerton so I thought I’d give it a try. I mean, how different can they be? What a mistake that was. I ordered a Grandmas Pizza, which is supposed to be a square, thin crust pizza. Well to their credit, they got the square part right. Worst crust I’ve ever had in a pizza. I don’t call an inch thick a thin crust pizza. So I called to ask about it. I explained that their menu says it’s a thin crust pizza. The girl that answered the phone checked with someone else and came back to the phone and said “that is our thin crust”. They didn’t offer to make it right, or a refund, or anything at all. It was disgusting. 4 adults in the house, 5 kids, and no one liked it! What a waste of money. I’ll make sure to drive the extra mile and a half from now on to go to the other Riviera, where they actually know what thin crust is!

We all know dining out usually stinks during the pandemic when restaurants are careful. Riviera was an exception. The take your order behind plexiglas, masked up and hermetically sealed, but the are so nice and accommodating. The pizza has always been perfect and now that we live down south, we have to have Jersey pizza once per trip. The buffalo chicken pie makes my mouth water to even right about it. Why can't they make crust like that a few states closer to the equator? Everyone tells me it's the water. Give me a thumbs up if you find this honest review helpful. Thanks.

I've wanted to eat here for quite a long time now, and we finally did. Very friendly staff here! We both ordered chicken cutlet parm sandwiches and split an order of cheese fries. He had a grape Fanta, which neither of us has tasted in years! Everything was good, and I had leftovers. The price was right, as well, and was a relief from the price of our dinners out lately.

When we walked in, we were greeted by every single working employee. The older man could tell we havent been there because we were staring at the menu for awhile.. he was explaining what they had and all of the varieties. We assumed he was the owner because he was so knowledgeable. I believe he said yes to every question we asked! When it got time to make our pizza, our 7 year old was trying to peak over the counter to watch. Instead, he told my son that he could watch from the side to get a better view. While doing this, he asked his name and exchanged some pleasantries. After a bit, he had to make other pizzas. (Obviously) but my son wanted to keep watching. So this gentleman started telling us about his life and where he came from. He was so polite and talkative. My son now wants to be a "pizzaman". To the point where now he wants to have a birthday party there because his friends would love him.. when I asked, he mentioned we would need to ask the owner. Now in shock.. we need to know who he is !! He just works there and makes pizzas!! It was such a great night.. his name is Giovanni. He even spelled it for Mason so he could understand better through his accent.

He is a lovely man, and earned our business, and possibly a birthday party !! Thank you Giovanni !!!

Ps. The pizza...

This place used to have good pizza but now I wish I could give zero stars. My Sicilian had little to no pizza sauce, my mozzarella sticks oozed so much grease the breading was soggy, and the calamari I ordered reeked ungodly of fish. I called the place to inform them of my inedible food and to seek a refund just to be handed to the general manager, Massimo. He was incredibly rude and proceeded to tell me that it’s highly unlikely that 3 of my items were “not good”. I went on to tell him again, my calamari tastes and smells horribly of fish, indicating they’re old, to which he responds “calamari is fish so it’s supposed to taste like fish”. If anyone knows good food AT ALL, they’d know that calamari isn’t even a fish and It’s definitely NOT supposed to smell like a fish market, let alone taste like it. The conversation ended with Massimo hanging up on me and the restaurant eventually refunding me for the 3 items. There is nothing worse than paying $60 for a dinner that’s...
