Update: Once again they didn't disappoint. Maria (our sever) was awesome, and the food (as always) is the best in South Jersey (with out question!!) This place has been in business for decades, and there's a very good reason for that. And that reason is the food. Being from the lower Eastside of NYC, Brooklyn, and later Staten Island we've been to the best of the best of Italian restaurants. Tarantella's is not only on par with the best of them, but rises above most if not all of them. Atmosphere is excellent. Staff is courteous, friendly, and accommodating. We have had several parties (of 12+) there. This was the first time me, and my girl went together (just the 2 of us, and her first time there.) She loved the food. She's second generation America (Italian) and knows what real italian food should taste like kas does my whole family.) It was her idea we get our Christmas Eve dinner to go (for 6.) If there was a six star option tarantella would get the 6. We brought our Christmas Eve dinner home, plated it, and it was as if Nonna/Grandma cooked it herself. You will not be disappointed. We would've paid double the cost to feed our six family members. The foods is that good. This is not a pizzeria! Although their Pizza is excellence. This is an Italian restaurant owned, and run by Italians. Italians who know how to cook Italian food. Bon appetit.

Food was alright, great portions though and our server that night was attentive and really helpful but........... we had the worst experience ever that we didnt even had the chance to finish our meal!!! We came in at 10pm and ordered the most expensive dish they have on the menu. We didn't enjoy it because "the lady" behind the cake shelf , not sure if she's the manager or the owner's daughter or whatever, talking sooooooo loud to the servers telling them that they need to hurry cleaning up so they can all leave...he even told our server to go ahead and serve our entree when we were still eating our salad and appetizer...all the time that we were eating, she was talking soooo loud and not even ashamed that we can hear everything....it would have been better if they told us that they are not seating people or serving food anymore at 10pm on a Saturday night, otherwise should've not rushed us and turned all the lights on on us when we were just half way through our meal!!!! I am from Philly and it was my first time here but my husband and his family are patrons of this place for a long time and I didnt expect to have this kind of experience....

Okay me and my boyfriend love it here. We were sat right away on a busy night, our server Patti was awesome! She was accommodating and very friendly. I ordered the fettuccine carbonara and my boyfriend had the fettuccine Alfredo, both were excellent and portions were generous. House salad was delicious as well as the bacon wrapped scallops in peach schnapps sauce- yummy! The owner or I believe the manager was seen greeting guests and checking up on them, he even stopped by our table to say hello and shared a few laughs together! Although we live about 30min away we definitely plan on making the trip again to try out the other menu options. Can’t wait to go back for sure.

Attended a larger-group celebration here (~15-20 people.) Food is fine, portions are huge, but service/management is disappointing.

Multiple plans were made ahead of time to make this a special day: decorations and alcohol dropped off a day before, guests told to show up early to surprise the guest of honor, and some of us showed up early to put up some light decorations.

We showed up 20 mins early to decorate, and we weren’t allowed in because our table wasn’t available yet, even though the manager was aware of this plan. We weren’t allowed into the restaurant until 30 mins past our reservation (an hour after we arrived). At that time all of the guests were there and standing outside. We are understanding people! It wasn’t a big deal, a previous party had stayed late, it happens. At the end of the night, the woman who planned the event asked for her decorations back that she had dropped off the day before and never got to use. The server was adamant that they didn’t have them and immediately said “No. We don’t have any of your decorations. No.” They were in the back. She couldn’t have just said, “Oh, no problem, let me check on those for you”?

Lastly, the server felt the need to explain to the couple hosting the event that the automatic service charge on the bill “didn’t all go to her.” Basically asking for more money in front of the whole party in a three minute conversation. It was so unprofessional.

We have liked this place for awhile, but we won’t be having an...

I hold dinners for my group a couple of times a year. We tried Tarantella's as an option. Brought 18 or so guests in hoping for good food and good service. Kinda felt neither. Table set up was one long table and two other round ones, which made trying to talk or even walk to the other table impossible. Wait service attention was just average. She didn't come back to ask how everything was... I found out later several folks had issues, but never were asked how their dinner was. There was also barely enough bread and butter at the table and there was no bus service to clear dishes and ask for more. It's a byob, but after the initial opening, no one asked or offered to open anything else. Appetizers were promising. Sausage and broccoli rabe was good, as was the fried calamari. Moving on to dinner, my over $30 seafood entree was tasty, but was inconsistent in the amount of seafood, when compared the other 3 orders in the party. Even more disappointing, my pasta was way overcooked. BTW, the restaurant was not packed, but it was busy. That said if you are going to hit a group for 20% tip for a large group, (easily over $800) they should get outstanding service, not the you are one of my 5 tables and I'll get to you when I can, which is how it felt. By the time she came back for any desert requests, my party was chomping at the bit to leave. Sorry for an apparently poor review, but it was just average. Price point was higher than the food quality or service. That's my...

The food here is SO bad and I ended up with food poisoning. Nobody I came with ate their dish- it was so watery. I got a medium rare steak with jumbo lump crab on top. It was extremely watery as was everyone else’s dish.

The kicker though, was the GM (who was super nice) came over and asked why we didn’t really eat our food. I explained it came out very watery with no real flavor and the steak was overcooked.

He looked at the topping on my steak and started explaining to me how the kitchen makes RISOTTO and because of that it can come out watery. I had to explain to him that the risotto he thought he was looking at was supposed to be jumbo lump crap in white sauce!!! The meat was so tiny and sauce so watery he thought it was risotto. As soon as we left the restaurant I was nauseous and had to get pepto bismal.

I then had food poisoning for the next 18 hours and was throwing up all morning.

Again, the GM was super nice. Comped my meal, gave us dessert and a gift card to come back- he did what someone is supposed to do when u have bad experience.

That being said, again, it was so bad we didn’t even take our leftovers home and we won’t be going back.

Huge portions, nice GM, terrible terrible food… and our waitress complained about her job multiple times (older lady).

Avoiding this place like the plague . I’m honestly not sure how it has 4.5 stars on Google. This is basically diner...
